http://themmacorner.com/2014/11/14/bellator-131-tito-vs-bonnar-weigh-in-video-and-results/

main card should be fun(particularly brooks vs chandler)....

Stephan Bonnar (205.5) vs. Tito Ortiz (205.5)
Will Brooks (154.5) vs. Michael Chandler (154.5)- For vacant Bellator MMA lightweight title
Melvin Manhoef (185.5) vs. Joe Schilling (186)
Nam Phan (143) vs. Mike Richman (142) ? Catchweight 143lbs
?King Mo? Muhammed Lawal (204.5) vs. Joe Vedepo (205)

btw...wsof also has a card headlined by yushin okami vs david branch(both were solid ufc fighters not all that long ago)

Dave Branch vs. Yushin Okami
for middleweight title

Justin Gaethje vs. Melvin Guillard
159pound catchweight

Jessica Aguilar vs. Kalindra Faria
for women's strawweight title

Jorge Patino vs. Eric Reynolds

........a fight I`m seriously anxious to see is Melvin guillard vs Justin gaethje(gaethje is no joke and comes to fight...he`s about the most offensive minded fighter I`ve seen in years)....what makes it interesting is that gaethje isn`t strong defensively so this will be a war for as long as it lasts......unfortunately guillard came in almost 4 pounds overweight(the fight is still on although switched from 5 rounds to 3)....gaethje/guillard and brooks/chandler would be worthy of a high level ufc card...

both bellator and wsof come on at 9 eastern ...bellator on spike and wsof on nbcsn....

Yeah that Bellator main card is fun. Brooks vs Chandler rematch could well be the fight of the night and Chandler is trying not be come 0-3 in recent fights. Odds on underdog Brooks are tempting. The question is did he fight above his level in the first fight or did Chandler just have an off night due to opponent change.

This is fight 50 for Guillard. For his style being power AND speed and all those training camps it is clear he is on the downside of his career. Mostly he looses by submission - that wont happen tonight and he is facing a superior striker (at least in kickboxing terms maybe not MMA)

Have to say tempted on Bonnar over Ortiz but I cant get that Coleman defeat out of my memory. Ortiz only has defeats to good to excellent fighters but the guy will be 40 in January. At this stage Bonner probably has more miles on the clock and his prime is closer to now than that off Ortiz

threw gaethje in several parlays when he was -190....now that the weigh in showed that guilllard obviously didn`t kill himself making weight and the fight was shortened to 3 rds, you`d think that woukld benefit guillard....but the line is now -220......?????

see mike richman as solid parlay material....I like nam phan but I don`t know if he carries richman`s power...should be a solid stand-up fight and if I racall ,phan lost at least one decision he should have won by not being active enough(leonard Garcia).....and richman`s a lefty...ditto Jessica agullar(by that I mean she SHOULD win,not she`s a lefty)...

speaking of Garcia,he showed again last night at axs fights why he`s an automatic go against as he was dispatched hastily by ex ufc-er Daniel pineda(-160 gift in pineda`s hometown).....he says he`s retiring so I`m sure most mma gamblers are in mourning .......don`t know who is more beloved by mma gamblers,,garcia or Jorge gurgel.......

Melvin manhoef/joe schilling is an interesting fight...schilling is 1-3 as an mma fighter and is only a +115 dog to manhoef....reason being is manhoef is strictly a stand-up fighter and schilling had an excellent kick boxing career....this shouldn`t sniff the mat unless somebody gets dummied or manhoef decides to exercise a little fight i.q.(not likely)....

I`m honestly a little surprised that chandler(who is a solid fighter) is a -240 fave here vs brooks......I don`t understand this line...

I hear you brother...I`ve been watching gaethje and he`s become on of my faves.....the worry here is that he tends to eschew defense to overwhelm his opponents with his insane offense(all manner of punches/backfists,powerful kicks, amazing athleticism).......I remember seeing him make his fight with a very good brian cobb much more difficult than necessary by falling down after trying crazy punch/kick combos and almost getting subbed.....he was just eating jabs(total disdain for that punch which was landing regularly on his gourd)....

I still expect him to win here, but that`s no sure thing given his defensive issues and guillard`s explosiveness...

I also think back to bonnar`s loss to zombie coleman(that fight, along with Ortiz beating bader cost me more than any two fights I can recall)... which is why f`ing Ortiz is off limits for me.....if I decided to dabble on this clusterfuck of a fight(don`t get me wrong,i`m looking forward to watching),I might have to go with Ortiz in a par to even the odds...certainly not laying wood with either fossil.....

brooks/chandler is serious business....I can see chandler turning the tables.....and at shorter odds(honestly thought brooks might open as fave after the first fight, naive s.o.b. that I am)...but -240?........I didn`t expect that....

great hearing from you,my man...you know your mma.....hope all is well... :toast:

Any thoughts on the over/under in the Tito/Bonner fight? 5dimes is showing over 2.5 rounds @ -165.

I just don't see how either of these two geezers knocks the other one out and both are too experienced to get caught in any kind of submission I'd think.
Sure, there is always a chance of a clean knock out punch being thrown by either guy, but it seems to me it will be a dance the first round then both men will be gassed and we will see a lot of hanging off the other guy the last two rounds.
This fight 10 years ago would have been a decent one. Tonight, its more of an nostalgic train wreck, and, seeing its on free TV, many of us will tune into.....:142smilie

Thoughts from either of you two, or any one else?

thanks, gents....:toast:

enjoy the fights....

I hear what you`re sayin,r.f..could very well be like watching two broken down wooden indians...but,just to be on the safe side before you make a move, theres some history of Ortiz being susceptible to hard body shots late in his career....http://sports.yahoo.com/mma/blog/ca...es-Ortiz-s-ribs-to-score-easy?urn=mma-wp10602

that story/link is interesting because in it Ortiz indicates he wants one more fight before retiring....punchline?...it`s dated 12/2011...

but,is that really indicative of a weakness?....hard to say....that and Ortiz quick stoppages of bader and shlemenko via submission(my ass is still chafed from the bader loss)....bonnar has proven to be pretty durable throughout his career but he hasn`t fought in over two years....

I say,go with your gut...it`s possible that ortiz can land a takedown and the two lay there like a couple of lox......

g.l. with whatever you decide:0074....it should be amusing at the very least...

morales gave it a shot but his ground game betrayed him....

that gaethje/guillard fight was unreal(as was manhoef/schilling)...they just kept trying to take one another`s head off...

those kicks from gaethje in the 3rd were brutal.....would have loved to see that go 5(as it was originally scheduled).....

real top drawer violence....
