This fight is in the talking stages but HBO and Show are both interested for a sept 5 fight as long as Caba wins his next one. VERY dangerous fight and bad style matchup for Gamboa IMO. The guy is in too big of a hurry before he fixes his flaws. Gamboa has very few rds in the bank and he's taking on a beast. He won't get away with his hands down approach against the Panamanian. When Caba gets in his range he can really bang. I'd expect Gamboa to go after him early and stay get inside those long arms. I could be wrong but this one is a big mistake IMO. I'd keep him the fck away from this guy. Odds will be very interesting...Gamboa -140, Caba @ +120 would be my best guess. Too early for me to pick but Caba definitely VERY live.

Celestino has to win next Thursday first
in Panama against Jeffrey Mathebula
not a gimme, but he should win cleanly

I gotta agree with you Romi
I picked Ponce and Molitor against the Panamanian
I think I am done picking against this beast Caballero
Gamboa would have to really step his game up to win this IMO

I agree Gamboa is reckless and gets clipped more than his talent should allow. But Caba hasn't really fought at feather except for some early over the limit SuperBantam fights. Gamboa has mixed at 130 and will probably be back there eventually. I see gamboa, flaws and all, too quick and strong. He should be able to land an explosive bomb that will rock Caba's world. Caba hasn't fought anyone nearly this quick and explosive. Caba easily diffused slow Ponce De Leon but that is a much different animal than Gamboa. Caba was super impressive against Molitor but I don't think it translates into a win over the Cuban.

Excellent post. I didn't even think about the weight factor. Gamboa is basically cutting to get to 126. Caballero, you are correct, has never really fought at feather.

Very intriguing battle.

Gamboa will be favored and he should win IMO, BUT I see it as an unneccessary fight right now. With such few rds on his pro ledger he's going to have to be on his A+ game. Gamboa is a star and he doesn't have to take this sort of risk at such an early stage. Despite his lengthy amateur career, he's still learning. Props to them for not taking the easy route but this is a bit of a stretch in the other direction. @ 5' 11" Caba is freakish and his style could very well be all wrong for Gamboa.
