illonois shot pathetic against arizona and coud not get mant offensive rebounds this will not happen against msu, this will be a deliberate game with many offensive rebounds on both sides which is the key ingredient for a low scoring game, i like flechers call. 5 dimes on abb game -just for that reason alone ihope we are right. gl
Correct me if I'm wrong, but won't offensive rebounds lead to more scoring, thus a high scoring game? Defensive rebounds leads to a low scoring game, not offensive rebounds!
Also, if MSU shoots well today, the total will go WAY over. . . seems like you have made arguments for the game to go over and not under!
both these teams play d, o rebounds keep games close or cause blowouts, woods dominated illini in the 2nd half which led illini playing at a more frantic pace. which led to alot of easy baskets by arizona. your right if either team shoots 60% from the field rebounds really do not matter but both these teams keep others shooting % low. izzo knows he can not run with arizona (because of arizonas guard play) after msu lost to illini earlier this year izzo stated that we did not play there style of game.i just do not think either team will dominate the boards especilly offenivly if one does especilly arizona game could fly over. but nobody hits the boards like msu. if you like the over we will have to agree to disagree.gl
"many offensive rebounds on both sides which is the key ingredient for a low scoring game"
Have to disagree with that statement. Offensive rebounds lead to putbacks, open shots, or drawing a foul more often than not.
Illinois had 13 offensive rebounds against Arizona...a pretty decent amount. Arizona's rebounding will be the key to the game. Mich St crashes 4 or 5 players to the offensive boards a majority of the time. If Zona can limit those offensive rebounds, they have an excellent chance to push the ball and score in transition. Mich St doesn't play a traditonal uptempo/fastbreak style. They try and use early offense more than any other team in the country..pushing the ball after a made basket, looking for cracks in the other teams defensive setup. Worked wonders for the past few years since Cleaves was a master at that, not so much with Bell or Taylor though, but I don't think Izzo is afraid to run with Arizona to a certain extent.
totally agree with your analysis hoops. to clarify my anaysis o rebounds or = rebounding means lower scoring if one team dominates like arizona did against illonois this game will fly over. but it will not happen msu will rebound and play there game. arizona will run if given the chance. with the offensive boards msu will decide tempo of game. and if msu dominates the boards they will really slow this game down. so i totally agree with you hoops and actually is what i was trying to say. if arizona does not dominate the glass this will be a low scoring affair. i just dont think arizona will be able to rebound and run.
