did anyone see the interview with gary sheffield and roy firestone? in it gary just talks about the continued presence of racism in baseball, although it should not be tolerated he just carries on and on with this subject. how come he seems to be the only one that continually bitches about it. one good example was when they showed a video clip of jason giambi shouting at a teammate on the ballfield, and gary claims that if a black ballplayer were to this he would be considered a bad seed on the team and a troublemaker while jason giambi (the white guy) is considered a gamer and cares for the game. come on gary, get a grip; do you think in an instant that if a kirby puckett, joe carter, tony gwynn among others did this they would be considered a bad influence. i doubt it. its only players like you that think like that. calm down, its all in your mind. play ball and have fun making your millions of dollars.

peace

I saw the interview and Gary is a borderline racist in my opinion.
the Braves will rue the day they got him and the Dodgers were glad to get him out. With the Braves pitching going in the dumper this year there is no way this team wins their division. I intend to make baseball money betting against the Braves. Especially when Maddux and Glavine are pitching.

Gary Sheffield is the type of person that will continually find something to complain about. There is nothing that will ever shut that guy up. He doesn't make enough money, he's not respected, management lied to him, everyone is racist, the world is out to get him. He needs to grow up and take responsibility for being a prick.

All he needs is

All he needs is

All he needs is 1 great year like Bonds just had. Everybody hates Bonds too, but that persona is soon forgotten by most when he is breaking the home run record. Bonds is just as big of a punk, but he has numbers to go with his attitude. Sheff doesn't.

Sheffield should just keep quiet. It's a different sport but Jordon yelled and never was considered a "bad seed". It just depends on the person.

They really have it tough. I would like to see him have to work for a living. Like he knows what racism is. Pisses me off!

Having an attitude is one thing, but throwing the racist card around every time you have a gripe about something is another. Sheffield is "cancer" around the clubhouse, and as a long time Dodgers fan, I was the first to applaud the move to trade his sorry ass away.

whether you agree with his comments or not, I don't think it's out of line for a high profile athlete to bring attention to a cause.

and there for sure is racism in baseball, as there is in other parts of life. Maybe over time some of the young black athletes will feel more 'at home' and more accepted playing baseball. It will help them and it will also add talent to the game, just as the DR and other countries.

"work for a living [...]" just because it appears to be an enjoyable job, doesnt mean that he doesnt bust his ass as hard as you do in your own line of work.

Somebody put a muzzle on these ****ers and tell them to play ball. Its no coincidence Sheffield was shot at a few yrs ago. Guys a kingpin asshole, I've heard all kinds of crap about him.

By the way, before you get any thoughts, my fav player is Dave Winfield, so I ain't no racist!
