If your local retailer is gouging the prices, you need to take a stand and gouge him back. Try not to fill up unless you are running on fumes. Remember who these guys are and pay them back by never using them again. I just filled up my tank for neccesity rather than for panic. There were no lines, and the prices were the same as they were yesterday.

I heard on the radio that the Mississippi governer declared a State of Emergency and that this makes price gouging a felony. Can someone confirm this?

If these people are raising prices tonight just because they think they can, here's how to get back at them. I'm not for getting even in daily life, and I like to turn the other cheek, but preying on the suffering and fears of your fellow American is downright wrong.

Go in the establishment and get a bunch of ice cream, order about 4 deli sandwiches with the works, and after it is rung up, say, "Oh, I changed my mind. You price gougers can choke on it!" and then leave. Don't patronize these idiots.

I can tell you that mayor Giuliani (sp?) stated at a news conference that no one should fall prey to price gouging and that police will be out and keeping their eyes open for anyone attempting to gouge in New York City. I do not know if this means that it is a felony or not, just that law enforcement officers should be aware of it and consumers should not fall prey to it.

I couldn't agree more about boycotting the gougers for life. Anyone, and I mean ANYONE who tries to take advantage of a situation like this is a degenerate.

Good point Senor. Guys and gals, if you can fill up before the prices shoot up in your area then by all means do so!

A few spots i drove by about 4 in Orange County had already raised prices 10-20 cents per gallon. Expect more movement - doubt that our screwball governor would take any action.

Would you believe $6 per gallon???
Heard it on our 11:00 news, saw $2+ at 9pm personally with dozens of cars spilling out into the streets.

Luckily I got in at $1.58. The State AG is supposed to investigate tomorrow.
