On the course!
I wrote an article for Double Down magazine, and they printed it in their last issue two months ago.

I never received a penny from them, even though I was told I would be paid.

I wrote the editor emails on four occasions since then, and each time he told me I would be paid. I was told he would talk to one of the other people at the office and a check would be sent right out. Each time I was told how sorry he was and it "would be taken care of."

This is turning into a clusterfk if you ask me. My question is, what can I do about this?

Any suggestions?

You can access their web site here:
http://www.winhourly.com/

Click on the picture of their latest issue, and it will take you to some of the articles. Mine is the one on "Bad Beats" you can read the entire thing for free.

My question is, what can I do about this?

not a got damn thang. if you blast them on forums, it will only increase their traffic. they will love you for that!

email them every single day until they cough it up. email them in the morning and email them at night. just keep doing it and maybe they'll pay just to get rid of you.

M J And YYZ that was by exact thought. A potential subcriber tells them same thing.

you did not say how much, but i think most people will be quite happy with a small check and recognition.

my guess is that they want to and they will, but they are probably so under-staffed that you are not a priority.

i would write the following:

gentlemen:

i suspect you are very busy and i don't want to keep pestering you every day for you to send me the check that was promised by such and such for my article called "xxxx", which was published on "xxxx date".

why don't you take 5 minutes to get this approved and mailed to me and we will put this chapter behind us?

thanks in advance for your understanding.

Pep,

I was very cordial in my first four emails. I sent one right after seeing the article published, and got no reply at all.

The second was sent three weeks later, and one every two weeks since.

I got the impression that they were swamped, and it would be handled. The ammount was a mere $150, so it should not crimp their budget. Christ, you would think I was holding them up!

Since they are a quarterly, they can't be running into deadlines every month, so I ask again....what gives?

I will see when my next email gets answered, and what it says.

yyz,
do not waste you time e-mailing: they will simply delete it with not effort expended. I know a little about this stuff and you have to make it a little painful. call them everytime you get a chance. Tell the receptionist your story, ask her toi put you through to someone. If you squeeze her/him a little they will go to their boss to ask what to do. After a while it will be embarassing and eventually you will get whayt is due you. You must be persistent and work your way up the chain of command: the higher you get the more likely you are to get paid just ot go away.

LOL
