Tereshinski talks about Tereshinski

Joe Tereshinski had other offers and avenues. They may have been less-traveled paths for a kid from Athens, but at the end sat more certainty and quite possibly an Ivy League diploma.
He also had a Georgia drawings on his wall and a dream in his head. That's how a small-town, private-school quarterback found himself in the state's biggest arena. Now, after four years of waiting, Tereshinski is the No. 1 quarterback at Georgia. That much was settled once D.J. Shockley graduated. And nothing has changed.
Tereshinski is No. 1, but three younger players ? Blake Barnes, Joe Cox and Matthew Stafford ? have designs on the same spot. His job is to hold them off and all the while bring his team closer together through the summer months.
With opening day less than three months away, Tereshinski sat down for a chat with staff writer Carter Strickland:
? Being a quarterback means ... knowing your position, being an on-the-field commander and being a leader.
? The last thing I do before a game is ... go over my notes one more time. Just game plan preparing. You've always got to be ready; it doesn't really matter when or what part you are on the depth chart.
? The first thing I do after a game is ... hopefully celebrate with the team. I talk to my grandfather and my dad and mom. Or if Wake [Forest] is playing, I get to a TV and watch. (Joe's brother John is a tight end for the Demon Deacons.)
? The Florida game, my one career start, taught me ... how to prepare for a game really and how to use that preparation from now on.
? I would change my performance against Florida by ... I guess taking control a little more in the game. It is one thing to go in there and think about it. It is another thing to go in there and to do it.
? The spotlight is ... dreamlike.
? When I need to I lean on someone, it's usually ... my father.
?Waiting to play was ... a good experience. Playing behind David Greene and D.J. Shockley, they are great motivators and great leaders. They showed me how to win.
? Leadership means ... controlling yourself and your team through the thick and thin at all times and adapting to the situation.
? Fans can be ... a great part of the game. They really can help motivate you to do your best.
? My first snap in Sanford Stadium was ... really a dream come true. Everything I worked for happened. After that, I had to set new goals.
? My last snap at Sanford Stadium will be ... hopefully, one to remember.
? I respect and admire ... my teammates. They come in every day and do everything that is asked of them. Whether they agree or not, they are going to get it done. You look in their eyes in that huddle and you know they are going to do everything they can to get it done.
? The one thing that always makes me laugh is ... my brother. I got the serious gene.
? My greatest fear is ... haven't reached that one yet.
? Blake Barnes ... great work ethic.
?Joe Cox ... very competitive and accurate.
? Matthew Stafford ... strong arm and really competes every day. Loves the game.

The trouble for Joe is if he plays poorly early a new QB will be in there before you can say Uuga Uuga.
