Totally agree.

I think the fact that it's a first round matchup DOES MATTER greatly.

I really want to take a shot here with this Canadian phenom - my gut says he will win again.

But I am going to pass. The books have this line for a reason. They think Verdasco will win.

I will be rooting for the kid though.

Hate to say it but I think the 2nd seed wins. Raonic has played a ton of tennis and is due for a letdown. He has been all over the news in :canada1 and has to be mentally done. I am sure he just wants to go back home and see his family. He has flown over 10000km in 5 weeks, it is just too much. I mean you can only take so much mentally.

Although I will say Verdasco played great in the final, it was a super high quality match. Verdasco never lost his serve yet lost the match. This is a big match for Verdasco and really means nothing for Raonic.

Bottom line I think Raonic wants to fly to Toronto and get the fuck out of Memphis. He wants to go home. He needs a break.

And to make it worse.........41% of ATP tournaments are played on clay. Way more then any other surface. Clay Court players have a huge advantage. So shut up Verdasco.

Note:

Only 16% of tournaments are on indoor hard/carpet

Oh and 8% on grass.


Or to put it another way.......71 percent of matches on the ATP tour are NOT on fast courts.
