Gibson Wins Season Debut for Twins

What a day! My friend Kyle Gibson started against the Cleveland Indians and earned his first win of the season 7-3! Pitched 5.1 innings, gave up 1 run on 3 hits. Got Nick Swisher to ground into a double play that stopped a potentially bad inning.

Was at the game with my wife and friends Robbie and CJ (his old high school baseball coaches).

We met up with Kyle and his family later in the evening at the team's hotel and watched the UK/Wisconsin game with him. It was so cool to just hang out and shoot the bull like the old days.

Congrats!!! If he wasn't on an innings limit I would grab him in fantasy league. Roll tide did he have TJ surgery or was it something else that I remember? Glad he got the win

I watched some of the game-bet he was nervous. He had a little control trouble so I know he can pitch
alot better. Good to get that first one under his belt.:toast:

Yes Jinx, he had TJ surgery in September 2011. They called him up last summer and he went 3-4 in 11 games. They had him on a pitch/inning count and sat him for rest of season in late August. Don't believe he is on a pitch count any longer.

He was a long shot to make starting rotation to open season but had a great Spring Training to get the fifth spot in rotation.

Hawk he definitely has better action. It was bitter cold yesterday. 36 degrees at first pitch. Definitely helped that he had run support yesterday.

Needs to work on lowering his number of pitches per inning. 97 pitches yesterday. 53 were strikes. Faced 21 batters. Walked lead off batter to start 6th inning or he might have gone a little longer.
