Bad luck, bad timing. You name it, Jeff Overton is afflicted with it.
Overton, who was featured in this segment earlier in the Fall Finish, was cruising in his pursuit of a 2009 PGA Tour card. He began the Fall Finish No. 142 on the money list, then jumped to 120 with a T-10 at Turning Stone and a fifth-place finish at the Valero Texas Open.
However, Overton underwent an emergency appendectomy Oct. 21. Overton played nine holes of a practice round for the Frys.com Open, consulted medical personnel about discomfort and was advised to see a doctor. He had surgery the same night.
Overton withdrew from the Frys.com, and it looked as if his season would be over. Remarkably, Overton was en route to the Ginn sur Mer Classic as of Tuesday and plans to tee it up this week. According to a spokesman for the agency that represents Overton, the three-year Tour pro underwent an appendectomy that wasn't "old school" and was less invasive.
At worst, if Overton misses both season-ending cuts, he'll finish in the top 150 and be exempt into the finals of Tour Q-School.
Went back and read some transcripts from last year..
Q. It sounds like you were very involved in setting up the golf course. Was there a philosophy that you took into consideration?
KEN DUKE: Not really. I'm a member here and I play here, so I think that way more than how I played this year. Went out with Steve Rintoul, the rules official and John Subers, tournament director, and just a lot of guys with the PGA staff and just suggest this and suggest that. I mean, I can't make decisions. The rules guys made the decision to keep it a 73. That's about the extent of it.
OUG MILNE: It's obviously nice to be at home and get to sleep in your own bed at night.
KEN DUKE: Yeah, it's good. We love about five minutes from here. This is my home course. We made some really good changes for this golf course. We got a bunch of rain a Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and I think if we wouldn't have got that it would have been a really good test. It's still going to be, but it would have been a little bit tougher.
different course this year.. but still a home game for Duke..
I have Duke this week in a Year long Pool. I'm in first with a 300,000+ lead, we all have Ames next week.
Yea Duke is the trendy pick.
I would post the writeup on why I am fading Bohn, well fuck it.. this is why
I like Duke too. I'm not on him though. I also liked Stroud. I'm taking this guy. I've won with him before, and he is playing well right now. I have no idea why he isn't on vacation right now. Anyway, he's playing so I bet him
O'Hair to win 21.00 sia
I'm going to have to bite the bullet and get more outs for next year. This having only one book sucks. I'm used to having 4 or 5 going, and it's a lot more fun shopping around.
