I was at a party this weekend & we got into a discussion about the 10 best movies of all time.It was funny because some of the picks didn't match the person who made those picks. For example a macho guy picking a romantic movie as one of his ten best did not fit his persona.
I think it would be fun to see what the posters here would pick.I will go first. In no particular order my top 10 movies are:

Godfather1
Godfather2
The Searchers
We Were Soldiers
Apocalypse Now
Pulp Fiction
Shawshank Redemption
LA Confidential
12 Angry Men
Silence of the Lambs

I thought I would throw in the most overrated.....
Casablanca

If you can't come up with 10,just list how many you want.

Amazing how quickly this deteriorated into top 10 porns! :nono:

I'm at work and can't take the time to think of ten, but these are some of my favorites:

Gone With The Wind
Fast Times at Ridgemont High
The Exorcist
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
The Horse in the Gray Flannel Suit

I just wonder what Dr. Freud would have decided about me with these!

It's true there are too many quality movies to narrow down to a top 10 list.

Jack....I thought for sure you would have listed...In The Bedroom to your list.(lol!)

Myron & Wareagle....I guess you listed those movies in memory to Linda Lovelass(spelling?) who died today.(lol!)

VANurse.....Isn't it The Man in The Grey Flannel Suit?
I remember when I saw The Exorcist for the first time.I jumped out of my seat when she spit out what looked like pea soup.I would not eat pea soup for years after that.

Bluemound Freak.....You really surprised me with Steel Magnolias & Terms Of Endearment. You have a soft side. You must be fighting off all the chicks.(lol!)BTW,I liked Terms, thought Magnolias was too sappy.

FatDaddy....Loved Taxi Driver.I don't know how old you are but I remember when it first came out & drew a lot of criticism for the content of the movie.Do you remember that Jodie Foster, who was about 12 years old(?),played a hooker.
What is Europa Europa about?Never heard of it.Is it a foreign movie?

Lightning....To this day,I don't go too deep into the ocean.

I saw alot of movies already mentioned that came to mind for me but did not see a somewhat "oldie" The Hustler with Jackie Gleason and Paul Newman. Great flic that put pool halls on the map.

AR182,
I enjoy your posts, you seem to be an insightful guy....anyway, yea I remember when Taxi Driver came out I am 37, but I was young still somewhat but I think Jodie did an excellent job even for a lesbian...hehe.
Europa Europa is a foreign film based on the true story of a young man that was jewish that escaped termination by posing as a Hitler Youth and Nazi soldier until he escaped just before the war ended. I did a term poaper on the movie and was truly swept away by the movie. An excellent watch. The problem is, is that most my top ten movies are interchangeable. I would say the top 3 are set and the rest can be moved around. I forgot about Schindlers List, The Quiet Man, Shawshank Redemption, Philadelphia was excellent, The Duel (about the semi chasing Dennis Weaver), absolutely too many to mention.

Nope, it was The Horse in the Gray Flannel Suit. Disney Studios circa 1960's.... starred Dean Jones and Suzanne Pleshette. What can I say? I was a little girl who loved ponies!

Many others, Airplane and Blazing Saddles for laughs. Others mentioned here of course. The Star Trek movie mentioned was clearly the best. Been known to watch a foreign movie now and then also.

Soft Side Maybe.....I do love a good Shirley Mclane Film. She is one funny woman. Jack Nicholson in Terms was my mentor.I have modeled my life around being a womanizer! Steel Mags......Loved Dolly, Sally, Shirley, Olympia, Darryl, and Julia as a team of women. They crack my ass up! I could sit and watch that movie over and over!

As far as fighting off the women..........Huh, my daddy told me when I was small.......son never fight off a good thing;).

I have a bunch more but those 2 are some of my favs!

FatDaddy.....Thanks for the compliment,I think.Jodie may be a lesbian but I think she is a beautiful woman. She is an ivy league graduate,so she may be too intelligent for me.BTW,Schindlers List was a great movie. But it was heart breaking.

Taoist.....Blazing Saddles is one of the all time great movies. To this day,the bake bean scene is probably the funniest scene of all time.If anybody wants a good laugh,I highly recommend seeing it.

Myron....IMO the opening scene in Monty Python & the Holy Grail ranks up there with the bake bean scene.Another really funny movie.

P3utt.....Both Paul Newman & Jackie Gleason should have won Oscars for that movie.Gleason was an absolut master with the pool cue.

Bluemond......If you like Shirley McLaine, there are a few movies I recommend. Some Came Running with Sinatra & Dean Martin,The Apartment with Jack Lemmon,& Post Cards From The Edge, with Meryl Streep.

Has anyone ever seen an old movie called Putney Swope. If you did what do you think of it?
