a few things worth noting:
cleveland state is only playing a 7-man rotation right now due to injuries. none of their "main" guys are injured, but theyre a little low on depth.
depends how you look at their L5 games when it comes to projecting this game. by and large, theyve competed very well and have lost some heartbreakers. their L5 games have been decided by 2,2,5,3,1. thats almost unheard of to play 5 straight games within a total of 13 pts....and lose 'em all. does that portend good things for conference play? or do they play w/o confidence when the game gets close.
(the akron game and boston game- csu led both games with under 1:00 to play)
i do like the fact that this is conference play now. teams get a clean slate. so some teams that have been on the wrong end of some breaks can start fresh. csu had a chance to steal a road win in green bay and couldnt get it as robinson missed a 3 at the buzzer
all in all, cleveland state has performed pretty well at home this year. theyve only played 4 home games (two were against cake teams and then they took north carolina and akron to the wire). maybe getting back home is just what this team needs. theyve got winnable games on the schedule right now (tonight home vs loyola, then home vs wright state, and away at youngstown).
theyre still rebounding the ball well. theyre playing hard. theyre just havent learned how to win yet. layin points is dangerous with a team that has a tendency to play close games (the way csu does).
i cant say i particularly like the vikings tonight. however, this IS a very winnable game for them and a game they desperately need. and they have performed admirably at the convocation center this year. i just hate the way they gave the boston and akron games away. gotta close out games youre leading in heading into the final 1:00.
