Wildcats & Over - Rubber game between these two. Zona took the first early season meting (11/22) in Hawaii. 79-76 and Illinois won in Chicago (12/16) 81-73. In the first game Zona played without C-Woods and shot only .358 from the floor. Illini were carried by PG-Williams with 27-points and received little help from their other starters. The bench did well with big games from Krupalija and Harrington. In the second game, Woods scored 15 in only his second game back. Zona was delayed with a winter storm and did not have the benefit of a practice in the United Center. Williams the star of the first meeting played with a shoulder injury and was only 1-4 from the field but 9 of 10 from the FT line. The remaining starters played much better but the bench was not as a productive. The game was a foul fest with a lot of pushing and shoving. Zona had numerous players with 4 fouls while Illini had 3 players foul out, Cook, Griffin and Archibald. Illinois had +9 point edge from the FT line. Thoughts for this one, Illini had a great game versus Kansas but Williams carried the O, when he had to do that vs Zona in first meeting they lost. Loren Woods is playing much better than he has all season. They only lost by 3 without him in Hawaii and in second game back did well with 15 points but he's playing at a much higher level now. Due to the physical scraps of last game, refs will look to take control early in this one and we should see a lot of FT's in this game and that should help the over and as the first two averaged 153.5 ppg and considering Zona shot poorly from the field in the first game and poorly from the FT line in the second if they put it all together today, should have a Zona win with the over.
