Wife and I going on a 7 day Hawaii cruise with 2 extra days in Waikiki Beach. Plan on touring the USS Arizona Memorial And USS Missouri site The tour that I'm thinking about is approx. 6 -7 hrs. long this includes travel from hotel in Waikiki Beach. Will this be ample time to take in the site ? If anyone has any tips please post. Here is our schedule for our island hopping. I'm 71 with bad back issues & wife is 64. Not into scuba , snorkeling or any major
water sports. Thinking about going out whale watching and viewing one of the crater's during the island hopping.

We did the AZ and Missouri tours 2 years ago. Flew over from Maui for the day. Our tour group was very small. We did the boat ride out to memorial and museum at AZ in a little over 2.5 hours. Missouri tour will take longer if you want to see the whole thing, at least 3 hours. Be sure to get your tickets ahead of time for the Arizona tour, this will save you a bunch of time.

Things to do on Kauai

Things to do on Kauai

There are some very cool things to see on Kauai.
Rent a car, and visit Waimea Canyon, Wailua Falls, and Opaeka?a Falls. None of these sights require a lot of walking, and can all be seen in one day.
I would head to the canyon first, as it is the furthest from the harbor.
After you visit the waterfalls, the drive to the North Shore is nice.
If you want to swim, there is a nice protected swimming area at Lydgate Park. It?s on the East side of the island, just North of Lihue.
There are many great places to eat on the island.
Above all, make sure that you stop and sample some of the best dark chocolate in the world at my wife?s shop...Wild Kauai Chocolate.

I agree. Did same thing last year. Great experience, definitely lot of up and down and cramped quarters on the Missouri.

Thanks Bohica we will be in Kauai for 1.5 days. I really don't want to rent a car , I was thinking of hooking up a tour. Out all those sights which one or two would you recommend ? My attention & staying power is about 6-7 hrs. max. Thanks !

The canyon would probably be my first choice. You will have some tour options for that. The only drawback to the tour thing is that you end up seeing one good sight, and the rest is kind of a waste.
I would recommend renting a car. The island is very small, and there is only one highway. All of the sights I mentioned are very well marked, and it would afford you the opportunity to see the island. Taxi service totally sucks, and I think you would be disappointed spending time around the harbor.

Thank you Bohica for taking the time to help me out. Maybe we will reconsider the car rental & completely understand the value of driving. I had a very bad experience about 5 yrs. ago with driving in Barcelona and vowed never to do it again. Thanks again !

Since you're close to my age you probably remember the opening monologue of Hawaii 50 where Jack Lord is standing on a balcony at the top of some building....I was stationed there in the late 70's and a favorite pastime for service members was trying to find that building......
