Have you got a room booked yet? Sure hope so! If not, best of luck finding one - it will be difficult.
In town on friday night, it is small town atmosphere enough that you can just park somewhere and walk up and down College Avenue right across the street from the campus (its the main drag there) and there are bars on every corner.
I used to frequent the "G-man" (gingerbread man bar/restaurant) good bar and grill type restaurant, cheap drinks.
Rathskellar is a great college frat/rocker boy kinda bar.
The Allen Street Grill is a lil more up scale - not much room for seating in the bar area and a lil more costly.

All the way down at the end of college ave on the corner of atherton st. (322) is 2 places:
All star sports cafe is a great place, outdoor beer garden, inside sports bar, really good wings and beer on tap there.

and then there is the aboslute best place to go up there in my opinion.
Cafe 210 West. down near the all star sports cafe on 210 College Ave. it has outdoor bar, the best wings in town, and a live band in back most nights.
and of course, the best looking women of all the bars in town.
hands down, this is the place you want to go for a good party (not counting the frat district located 2 blocks behind it).
i used to take all my buds to cafe west and they all loved it. definitely recommend going there either night.
Get there EARLY! by eleven there will be a line down the block to get in there and its shoulder to shoulder.
The crow bar is another nice place, but more of a rock/grunge bar as it is live band on stage and smoker/grunge/weed crowd there. But again, hot chicks.
My office used to be directly underneath the place, lemme tell yea, if you want to party hard and get rowdy, go there. you will not be disappointed.

have fun!
if you have any questions, let me know.

other must stop places:
Meyer's Dairy. Its across the street from the Weis Foodmarket on 322. cheapest and best ice cream you will ever have. Made on location with the milk from the cows out back, and its like 2 bucks for a giant @ss banana split.... same thing costs like 7 bucks at freakin dairy queen. it rocks!
The navy recruiting station, sign up for 4 yrs and they will throw in a free set of season tickets for the rest of the year for ya.
;)

Marine nailed it on the head (or in the rear :scared). You really can't go wrong no matter what bar you go to.If you just want to hang around a bunch of 21-23 year old shi# faced college kids I suggest you go to the Rathskeller, it's a total dive but you'll have a great time. All the bars are within walking distance of each other and buses run till 4am. on the campus loop.I hope you have a place to stay because all rooms are probobly booked. We head up on Friday afternoon in an RV. That's the way to go even if you have to rent one. I guarentee you one thing, this will not be your last PSU game. It is awesome if you do it right. I'm only going to the Purdue and Iowa games this year. Enjoy :drinky: :drinky: :toast:
