Nice pick lost, especially pre-tournament. I backed him after round two as I saw the irony coming.

What do you think this win will do for him?

I think he's gonna be a stud out here, multiple winner for sure this season. Takes balls to come back the next week. Game looks nice for Augusta. Thoughts?

Jimmy,

Kyle Stanley first separated himself from the pack for me last year with his scorecard pic at pgatour.com, which I swear looks like someone I should know.

Anyone? Bueller? Anyone?

Then from Stanley's interviews I suspected he might do well as the last man in the field last year at Royal St. George's, and he did not disappoint, firing a 68 in the first round and finishing T44.

And actually, what really registered with me was reading his comments in the pgatour.com media Guide: "Bucket list includes winning all four major championships . . . Favorite course he's played is Augusta National and would like to play Pine Valley in New Jersey . . . Dream foursome included his father, Ben Hogan and Jack Nicklaus . . . Superstitions include wearing the color blue." . . . I also hear he works exceptionally hard in a profession that usually rewards such an ethic.

So Kyle Stanley was in my category of, "Golfers I want to be on him when they get their first win", and I was kicking myself last week when I wasn't on him in San Diego, but I was given a crazy chance to be on board with him at Phoenix. Thank you, Kyle. :toast:

When I posted my 20/1 play on Stanley on Saturday, I also noted I would add a play on the Masters if I had found an opportunity. My three-fold thinking was that his driving recently was looking remarkably stellar, he appears to have the short game shots that can flourish at Augusta, and he clearly has a penchant for Augusta and the Holy Grail of golf's four major championships (I know if I could choose,I'd rather have Andy North's two U.S. Open titles or Tom Kite's one for my career CV over Lee Westwood's rise to #1 in the now coveted #1 World Golf ranking). But I see Stanley's early line for Augusta is now being set this morning at 50/1, which is definitely not the 125/1 or even 80/1 I was hunting for on Saturday, and after watching him play brilliantly on Sunday, I'm now not so sure his depth of shots is as refined as I would like for a seasoned chance as a first-timer at Augusta. So for the time being I'll pass, but after he delivered this week, I can afford to throw some money his way when the calendar gets to April.

my bad, I thought there was a scoring error on one of my matchups, anyone know how Singh ended up a WD? I thought he was -2 in his 2nd round but see him listed as WD, maybe the scoreboard was incorrect Friday?

Stan unless you count my Quiros over Mahan 72 hole and 1st round as only 1 total win, I think I was 8-2. Thanks for checking, I know this is a lot to keep everybody straight and when i start fading I will not even notice if there is a discrepancy lol.

wow did Singh screw me...he was tied at +4 with YE Yang and when play was suspended on Friday night he refused to come back Saturday morning and finish his round. Sucky way to lose a matchup play:tongue

Stan,

I backed Stanley with two separate wagers. 50/1 on Thursday, and 20/1 on Saturday. I hope you agree. Thanks.

GL

Yes, I did see the second wager on Kyle Stanley.

My policy had been to count two plays on the same player as just one ... the golf forum recap tries to weight everyone's plays equally so this designed to counter someone who posted the play again because it was available at better odds (i.e. top-up the bet).

However, I will now change that policy to make exceptions for wagers placed on the same player at different stages of an event. Backing Stanley @ 20/1after 36 holes is completely separate to backing him at 50/1 pre-tournament and not merely a topping-up of an existing bet.

Congratulations on a very successful week :)

The Quiros/Mahan 72-hole and 18-hole plays were counted as two separate plays for the forum recap. However, I've gone back over the threads and I still found just nine posted plays.

thanks Stan, know it isn't that big a deal, guess I just wanted to see my name on top of the leaderboard, know it probably won't last. Thanks for all your work in here, learn a lot from your writeups.
