This should help you out for Austin The Link

I've heard good things about Blackhawk and Star Ranch but those 2 can be pricey. Try Jimmy Clay, it's close to I-35 and Ben White.

Are you going to be North or South?

There are a lot of choices for golf courses in SA. I played Cedar Creek a couple of weeks and enjoyed it. Reasonable fees because its a municipal course but still nice. I heard that Silverhorn is nice but a little pricey. What area of San Antonio are you looking to hit?

Played at Roy Kaizer and liked it because it is open and fairly short, which is good for me, couldn't lose too many balls. Played at Riverplace, but not sure if that has gone back to a private course. It is the nicest I have played here. PLayed Lago Vista, but is way out of town. Have a friend that works at Austin Country Club, which is very nice and may be able get you on there, but would have to check with her first, which I could tomorrow. Plyed Plum Creek south of Austin, but was not worth the money, and I hear that Blackhawk is a very good course for the money.

The one I've played the most is Cedars at Bergstrom. One of my friends and I have played it probably 7 or 8 times. Low price, never crowded when I went there. I think it was during the summer most of the time and during the week, so don't know how weekends would be. And yes, I would say it is fairly comparable to Memorial Park, perhaps a slight downgrade.

Also played Riverside course once, it was about as good of quality as Cedars but it's more expensive.

I was thinking it might be fun to have a MadJacks golf outing here in Austin. We could probably get a couple foursomes from the site and play somewhere one day when it warms up. Maybe the weekend Freeze comes in town. We could include San Antonio and maybe Dalls and have a day tournament. Just a thought if any guys would be interested or just getting together one day and playing with a couple of guys from around here. I'm always looking for a couple new golfing buddies.

I'm game. Fair warning though, I've never played golf before except for pitch and putt off of Barton Springs. Did OK there but I think my problem would be teeing off...never had the chance to just smash the ball like I want to.

Doughboy, where about do you live in Austin?

FM,
Just moved to Leander in Blockhouse Creek off of 183 last August. Lived off of William Cannon in Oak Hill before here. How about you? I'm not much better than how you sound at golf, but I enjoy buying a couple of beers and having a good time outside. If I break 100, than I am happy. If you want, we can go play sometime. Just e-mail me. Jack should have my e-mail--I think.
