I am really liking the new Ping G30 irons and Titleist 915 driver. With a $1,700 budget, I would absolutely get them fitted. I would also trade in the Ping wedges for a set of Cleveland ZIP grooves wedges. As far as a putter goes, a Scotty Cameron putter would fit the bill.

I would probably just spend the $1700 on renting clubs and play at Pebble Beach

Just watch the Open on tv today and try to copy the mechanics you see on tv and visualize yourself hitting the ball nice and straight and putting into the hole.
