Saw you decided to ride it out on Islamorada. Can't say I think it is a good idea, but here's wishing you and others that stay the best of luck. Godspeed my man!

WOW! I wish he would reconsider!

They are talking a 10 foot storm surge and winds up to 150 mph!

Not worth it sticking around, you will be helpless! xstop

God bless you whatever you do!

Here
from bones yesterday,

About as ready as can be. Going to move a generator to a higher spot in the landlord's shop. 6 apartments here where I live, I'm the only one home. Hope this doesn't turn out to be another boneheaded decision of mine. Old guy I take to and from the doctor wouldn't leave, so here I am. If there's an internet connection, you'll hear from me after this bitch passes.

I will never ever ride out a hurricane ever again. Dont make sense..

I have family in Tampa. They refused to leave.

said they were 29 ft above sea level but they live less than mile from tampa bay.

said they didnt want ppl stealing stuff.

said shelters were not a option for them.

said they might run out of gas on the way out and be stuck in the hurricane.

cant talk to ppl like that

I was not sure what to tell them

HURRICANE IRMA UPDATE:
A lot of people are asking and we have limited communication with a few people that stayed behind via satellite phones, so this is what we know. Everyone is ok and the worst of the storm has passed. Irma was a Cat 4 storm and the eye hit about 60 miles away from us on Cudjoe Key. A lot of trees and debris to deal with...power and cell service is out most everywhere. We don't have accurate details on the marina at this time but there is surely damage done and we as well as the rest of the Keys will have a lot of recovering to do. Thank you everyone for for the messages and good wishes and we will update when we can with accurate information. Help is already on the way we have heard the power crews and first responders, etc. are in route to the Keys. Some locals who stayed have already been out with chainsaws and trucks clearing roads on their own, our small island community is strong!
