Apparently 2 milliion isn't enough for Margarito now... some people just forget where they came from

"As of now, it looks like the odds of a fight between Antonio Margarito and Shane Mosley are dwindling. HBO offered both Top Rank and Golden Boy around $4 million to split, but while it seems that Mosley has accepted on his end, Margarito is balking at his own payday, which would be around two million bucks."

For 4 million cash...I'd blow Vitali on PPV....4 mill buys alot of mouthwash..

But in all seriousness...Margarito really is entitled to get paid millions. Economy sucks, but you cant fault a guy for ultimately pricing himself out. He is one of the best boxers on the planet at the moment. Its businesss. He's entitled to the big bucks.

I think 2 million or 4 million qualifies as millions. I don't blame him for not rushing back to fight the freak that is Paul Williams when the Cotto fight was out there.

I can see why he declined to fight Williams, though I thought he might want to settle the score with Williams...Mosley IMO is not a particular hard fight for Margarito at this point in time, he should takte that for 2 millions...
But I see where the problem is, guys like Oscar or Mayweather get paid a lot more to fight inferior opposition....

totally agree...i don`t see this version of moseley posing much of a threat to margarito....

i remember mosely fighting limited raul marquez back when he was still "sugar shane" and he struggled more than one might have figured with marquez` strength and aggressiveness while it lasted(a few rounds,i believe a head butt ended it as a nc).....it was his first fight at 154,so maybe that explained it...

i bet margarito`d love to get some oscar action....theres the motherlode...

1st of all I'm a huge Margarito fan. I just don't understand w/all the complaining he did when he felt he beat Paul Williams, that he won't take the rematch for 4 million??? Just a slight contradiction in what he says. He's a very good fighter but that's about the tops he's going to make unless Oscar or Floyd want a crack at him. It's a dangerous fight as his stock would plummet a little if he lost the 2nd go. I think he's simply trying to protect his value. 2 million against Mosley is a good price and a VERY winnable fight IMO. I was going to take a big amt on -450. I think he'll just bide his time and wait for Cotto II to materialize. Personally I think the guy is blowing by staying n the shelf when he has 2 big fights for the taking. Kind of reminds me of Marquez trning dwn Pac II for good money and fighting Chris John for peanuts instead. Margarito needs a better adviser.

Mosely has become more and more hittable in his late years , he's no defensive wiz and I've seen numerous people claim his speech is a tad different than past although I don't know if that's true. He can no longer go for 3 minutes of each round and he wasn't going to hurt "The Terminator" who'd just keep coming and delivering thudding blows . Maybe Margarito saved himself from the onus of damaging the smaller, 37 year olds brain and abillity to enjoy life down the road.

Interesting seeing Shane going after monsters like Margarito with his boss going after Stevie Forbes and now someone with one lightweight bout under his belt. I wouldn't mind seeing Oscar in the late rounds . hands and knees on the canvas, unbable to continue like Morales -Manny 2, exhasuted from gettiing back down to 147 and the Tasmanian Devil attacking his ribs all night. Is Stevie Forbes really that much bigger than Manny?

Yes, I've also got some $$$ behind DLH, maybe it's the media/Roach doing a good job on me, getting me to thiink Manny has a shot. Alll the presssure is on Oscar for this one.

Don't get your hopes up. Watch Manny's workouts on fighthype's youtube channel, I did and don't see what the fuss is about. To me he looks slower, less coordinated and timed, flat-footed, and hitting with less power. For comparison sake, watching Hatton work the pads looked MUCH better. Maybe Mayweather is just a better pad-worker than Roach is. Pac has been a pro for a long-ass time, and couldn't finish off a 130lb JMM.

On MaxB you can see articles and vids about Hoya, he's in shape and looks fine. The under 9.5 looks golden at +168, I'm on it if it stays that high. Oscar KO is about +150, and since he notable fades late, its unlikely he kos him from 9.5 to 12. Plus you're covered in the miracle or freak injury that knocks out DLH.

edit - i see you're financially backing DLH as well, so we're on the same page. When watching HBO countdowns or 24/7 shows, they always play the underdog up and find ways to doubt the fav, it's their job to make it look like an even fight.
