Did it ever occur to any of you guys that an incumbent who has done what Bush has done just *might* draw more protesters than some goof who hasn't proven himself to be evil just yet??

Exactly. Two years ago, a lot of people would barely even know who Kerry was. He hasn't been in a position to piss many people off. The biggest outcry against him was over his service in the US armed forces during a war. Not a whole lot to draw out the protesters. Not to mention the DNC was in Kerry's home state, while Bush's is in NYC, a city that has a democrat-republican ratio of 5:1 (at least I heard that a couple days ago).

I must admit I almost got a night in jail one time in Madison. Dam we were a bunch of mad folks. Johnson ticked many off. Then along came Nixon and got a few more million ticked. Of course it's got to do with your age. I was still young and easy to convince. That and brains were still below the belt.

No doubt. Picture if the RNC was in Texas, the DNC was in Oklahoma, and people were astonished and dismayed that there were more Republican protesters. And trying to actually make some sort of point about it?

I'm not sure how Woodstock was, but I know Woodstock 2, was a license to steal, kind of like a lot of corporate America today. Hence there was lots of people protesting after being charged 5 dollars for a glass of water, 10 for a hamburger. Much like the shitt heads in Florida exploiting people who have lost everything they own. Some have no conscience.

i also heard that kerry got one of his purple hearts at woodstock.....

the word is that a "gravity bong" exploded on him...luckily,he has a chin the size of rhode island...almost lost an adam`s apple....

he claimed it was a buddy`s bong and he dove in front of the "bong-shrapnel".....

no swift boats were involved.....

i also must say that i was very disappointed by the turn of events that led to the decision by a liberal judge in boston to deny the aclu`s suit against democratic convention organizers allowing them to basically "pen-up" protestors at the dem`s convention.....

while another liberal judge in new york denied the request of republican organizers to be able to follow suit in controlling what is obviously a much larger, more potentially violent and radical group at the republican convention(a point whch was made by my liberal brethren here at m.j.`s)...

why no cry from the media?....

while i`m whying,why am i not surprised.....lol

and while i`m here, kudo`s to the pathetic aclu for at least going through the motions.....more shocking than the red sox winning the world series....

Garden, where are you from my friend? If I remember correctly Maryland, dc area? And I can only respond by saying the only thing worse than not winning it all (Red Sox), would be losing professional franchises a la Washington senators & Baltimore Colts. Never happen in Boston

gw, Sox could win it this year buddy! LoL!

And Nomar turned down 60 million for 4 seasons, Sox weren't willing to go any higher considering he missed the entire 02 season and probably 100 and games this season. Although a gifted athlete I firmly believe he will never again resemble the player he was in 99 & 2000. He has never been a patient hitter, that waits for his pitch. Opposing pitchers now are reluctant to throw him strikes hence his lower averages in past years. He has always been a average ss defensively at best. Sox were leading the al in runs scored & lowest era. The trouble was led MLB or in unearned runs, Lowe alone a ground ball pitcher had 29 unearned runs against. They were giving teams 4 and 5 outs, you can't do that. They replaced #5 with Cabrera & the Polish First baseman both multiple gold glove winners. They have given up 1 unearned run last 20 games, and won 18 of last 21 hard to argue this far, only 4 behind Yankees in loss column. This week will tell something Anaheim and Texas com to Fenway.

Although not a Red Sox fan by any stretch of the imagination, you gotta like them in a short series with the Yanks. I mean Schilling and Martinez v. Mussina and El Duque? Really????

Ed- they could only play either a 1-game playoff for a playoff spot, or else a best of 7 series. Since they're in the same division (unless this rule got changed), they can't play in the first round, best-of-5 even if the Yanks have the best record and the Bosox are the wild card.

BJ:

Are you sure? Coulda sworn that the rule changed so that they could meet in a 5 game as division winner and wild card. Maybe I'm wrong.

Even if its 7, they get Schilling and Martinez twice.
