Faded this dude last year as a starter most of the season. He was horrific. This year he's supposed to be the "star" closer, yet in 3 games I have played against the Dodgers in the last few weeks, he has come in and blown the save all three times. Go figure. :shrug:

Hope he can continue to blow.

Or as Sammy would say keep to continue ;)

Ooops, lead off double for Dodgers! Better keep my trap shut.

:eek: Wow, you've channeled into Gagne's mind, it seems!;) For the record, Gagne's blown 2 saves since the month of May, and THREE (including today's) for the entire year, so saving 40 games out of 43 chances so far is pretty darn good. IMO he IS the best closer in baseball this year. Based on his numbers alone, you'll be very hard pressed to find anyone out there as dominant as he's been this season. What a turnaround from last year.

Have to agree with the turnaround. Have a good friend that played Junior college ball with him and he stays in touch frequently with him. He would tell me after a game last year when Gagne would start off strong and get drilled that Gagne would tell him that he would just mentally lose it after a couple of innings. Glad to see him doing so well this year, in fact going to Dodgers/Astros series in a couple weeks. Have you seen how much Gagne is making this year?-I think the minimum-well the Dodgers are gonna pay him next year.

hope you enjoy LA/HOU.

I also remember last year he seemed to start out fine but then "lose it" in the later innings. but it seems he's found his niche, tossing for an inning or two, and no more, is all he needs to maintain his focus. hopefully he will be rewarded next season.:)

Don't know about concentration or whatever, but this guy, once he loses it is like "Lima Time" @ Coors Field. He was pathetic as a starter, and I was starting to wonder about the hitters in the NL West that would allow him such great numbers closing. Bottom line, i wouldn't pay for the guy to be on my team. He's like a B.Y. Kim from Arizona, give him a little presure and he blows.

Just a tid-bit to take into account when capping

Comparing Gagne's #'s as a starter vs. closer is like night and day, couldn't be more different. Lima Time in Coors Field.....LOL. About the only time he's "lost it" this season was in Cincy.

Seen him on TV many times and the control on his fastball has been superb. He's efficient, doesn't fool around with hitters and throws some serious gas.

And there's no denying the following:

78 K's and only 8 BB in 58 IP;

.172 opp. BA;

0.77 WHIP and .217 OBA are the LOWEST of any relievers in the majors with a min. of 12 IP!
