Just a Guess

Just a Guess

Because the Kitna and the Lions scorched the Cowboys last year in Dallas. This was one of two very ugly losses at home in the stretch run for the boys last year.

Tuff call for GOY

On the road laying 10', conference game on tap next, everybody luvs Kowboys (inflated line), Detroit has lost 4 in a row, looks like really easy play,(we know what that usually means)

Somebody will be happy, give me the points and a small dab on ML...looks like it would be tuff for Kowboys to get up for this tilt.

Cowboys LB James `looking forward' to seeing Kitna on the field

By STEPHEN HAWKINS / Associated Press

Note to Jon Kitna: Dallas Cowboys linebacker Bradie James can't wait to see you Sunday.

That would be No. 56, which is how the Detroit quarterback referred to James instead of by name in some disparaging remarks in January. Those came after the Lions finished a three-win regular season with a victory over the playoff-bound Cowboys.

"It has been circled on my calendar the whole year and here we are and I'm looking forward to it," James said Monday. "I thought it was classless. ... Yeah, they beat us, so what? It was over with. He was at home and we were still playing."

Kitna threw for 306 yards and four touchdowns in the Lions' 39-31 victory at Texas Stadium last season.

His comments came the following week during an interview with a radio station in Seattle, where Kitna began his career from 1997-2000. That was also before the Seahawks played Dallas in the playoffs.

"We didn't feel like their interior linebackers were very effective," Kitna said during the interview. "There were some times that we were watching on film before we played Dallas that we really felt like No. 56, sometimes I don't know that he knew where he was at."

It wasn't until February that someone called James and told him about Kitna's comments.

"He didn't say nothing before the game, then all of a sudden, we hear him saying something," James said. "I don't know him and don't want to know him, but he's going to get to know me. I'm going to talk before and back it up."

With a victory Sunday at Detroit, the Cowboys (11-1) would clinch their first NFC East title since 1998. Still, James appears to be thinking more about Kitna.

"It's not in the back of my brain. It's on my brain," James said. "Just to hear a quarterback talking about another player, it breaks the code. We don't talk about each other. It's like a blindside. I was like, `Where did that come from,' and I don't even know the guy."

Kitna even prefaced his remarks in January by saying he needed to be careful because he knew Detroit was playing the Cowboys again this season.

Well, it's time. And Kitna's comments have become bulletin board material for the Cowboys this week.

"If it helps any, whoever put it up there, I'm glad they did," coach Wade Phillips said.

When told James was mad, Phillips smiled and said, "That's good."

Fellow linebacker Greg Ellis was asked if James was already talking to teammates about getting Kitna back.

"Nah, I like Kitna. He's a great football player, a good, competitive guy," Ellis said. "He's really doing some good things for that football team. You just want to try to do something to get to him."

Asked the same question again, Ellis chuckled, "We won't talk about that."

Still, it's pretty clear that James wants everyone to be aware of how he feels ? and that Kitna will know where the linebacker will be at Sunday.

"The best thing about it for me is there is no need to get real rah-rah about it. We get to play them," James said. "Y'all can ask me about Jon Kitna every day from here on out the rest of my life and I will get fired up. ... He talked like we weren't ever going to play them again. We're going to be ready."

Newman's remarks draw NFL warning

Letter says slam against Lions' QB 'thoughtless and irresponsible'

By CALVIN WATKINS / The Dallas Morning News
cwatkins@dallasnews.com

IRVING ? The NFL isn't happy with Terence Newman.

In a letter dated Dec. 5, Ray Anderson, the executive vice president for football operations, told the Cowboys cornerback he was "thoughtless and irresponsible" regarding his comments about Detroit quarterback Jon Kitna.

On Monday, in an interview with Sirius' NFL Radio show, Newman said of Kitna, "He better just hope I don't blitz off the edge, because I've got 15, 25, 30 [thousand dollars], however much it would be for a fine. I've got that much for one fine. Revenge will be sweet, definitely."

All this started after Detroit beat Dallas, 39-31, to finish the 2006 regular season.

A few days after that game, in an interview with a Seattle radio station, Kitna ripped inside linebacker Bradie James and Newman.

"We definitely felt like Terence Newman was the best corner that they had, so we knew we needed to be careful with him," Kitna said. "But even with him, I mean, he's not [Seattle cornerback] Marcus Trufant in my opinion. He doesn't have that kind of ability. It wasn't like you were scared to throw at him, I guess."

The letter from the league was hung in front of Newman's locker before Thursday's practice.

Coach Wade Phillips, who said Newman talked to him about the letter, said he's not concerned about his players being unprofessional during the Lions game.

"It's just motivation, and that's OK," Phillips said.

Anderson's letter also said Newman was doing a disservice to the league and that he will be watched closely Sunday.

"I don't know anything about it," a smiling Newman said as he walked to a position meeting.

The cowboys need to get over remarks Kitna made almost 11 months ago. None of his comments were inflamatory. He simply spoke the truth as a horrible Lions team beat an overrated Cowboys team last year. The Cowboys are clearly the class of the NFC this year and the Lions are in a tailspin. If they need to rehash old news to get them pumped up for this game then they are in trouble. They are the better team in this matchup again and need to let their play do the talking.

nice pick...my biggest play of the day was detroit..

:mj11: Try capping the games and playing your own selections rather than tailing GOYs blindly. This way you won't feel compelled to bash and post smart-ass remarks when you lose....
