If Anders and 1837 can predict the winner of the womens' skeleton and kiwi football games, then I can jump into the fire with what seems to be a solid bet at one of the offshoes for an obscure event.
Millenium offers betting on the 2002 Grammy Awards.
I have no idea who is on the top of the music charts right now and couldn't care less, but U-2 seems like a no-brainer to win BEST ALBUM OF THE YEAR. U-2 is currently listed at -200 as the heavy favorite.
U-2 ALL THAT YOU CAN'T LEAVE BEHIND YOU: -200
India Aire ACCOUSTIC SOUL: +200
Bob Dylan LOVE AND THEFT: +500
Outcast: STANKONIA +300
Various Artists: O'BROTHER WHERE ARE'T THOU?: +250
Frankly, I do not have this album (CD) and have never heard it. U-2 lost me about five years ago when they released that dreadful dance album. But I do know that Grammy voters love political conciousness in music and U-2 (Bono) has been very public this past year. I thnk that will manifest itself into another Grammy win for the Irish rockers. They virtually win this category by default, since it seems unlikley any of he other albums carry the weight of U-2's work. For those thinking that Dylan might win some sentimental votes, remember that he won the BEST ALBUM Grammy three years ago (for a piece of trash that was recorded inside a hotel room). No one has heard this Dylan album and it's fitting he's priced at +500 (the longshot). As for he other "artists" who in he hell has ever heard of any of them? O'BROTHER WHERE OUT THOU? was a quirky and quickly forgotten Coen Brothers movie (I'm a big fan of their work) but as the second betting choice it has almost no chance to win in my view.
U-2 wins this....in a landslide.
Putting $500 to win $250.
