I'm a lifelong Mariner fan, but objectively speaking, there is NO WAY the NY Yankees should be +120 for this series. I've already jumped all over that for 7 units. Granted this was a historic year for the Mariners and the series price was clearly made due to Seattle having those 116 wins plus the home field advantage to start out, but let's really examine this for a second, shall we? New York clearly doesn't ever feel any pressure. They've already won the last 3 world series and 4 out of the last 5. For that reason alone, I feel they should be the favorites. Furthermore, the Yankee starting pitching is as good as if not better than that of the M's and they go 3, if not 4 deep in quality. The Mariners can really only rely on Garcia and Moyer right now. Sele's career post-season numbers speak for themselves...0-4 record and ERA somewhere in the neighborhood of 5 something. NY counters Seattle's tremendous bullpen by having one of their own, led by the best closer ever in Rivera and Mike Stanton is no slouch, either. Offensively, Seattle's hitting just IS NOT all it's cracked up to be and I think you're going to see that in this series. Outside of Ichiro and Edgar Martinez, nobody can be counted upon on a consistent basis. Olerud is a very average first baseman and Bret Boone is in a major slump and can be quite easily over-powered by a good fastball, as was shown vs. the Tribe. This series won't be so much that Seattle won't step up as it will the Yankees are just still that damn good and that damn clutch. They are deep and versatile and balanced. Needless to say, it would be a helluva feat to actually (AND FINALLY) eliminate those guys, but I don't see it happening. Just my humble opinion. Feedback/other opinions welcome and appreciated! Thanks and good luck to all. Oh and if I lose the series bet I won't be too worried about it -- would give anything to see my M's in the world series!
