I usually play my NFL Superbowl futures in about a week or 2 and have been looking at TB for a longshot to win it all. I was wondering if you guys thought TB had a legitamate shot?

Thanks

Expectations are very high in Tampa this season -- and rightfully so.

Main problem with betting Tampa to wither win the NFC or the Super Bowl is that they must somehow get past the Rams, Eagles, and 49ers. My view is that they are no better than the 4th (maybe 5th) best team in the conference, so at 11-1, I see ABSOLUTELY NO VALUE on this team. Maybe at 15-1 or higher, but not at 11-1. Add the QB issues and a first-year head coach (new offensive and defensive systems), the loss of a great defensive-minded coach (Dungee) and Tampa has many questions coming into this season.

If Tampa were an AFC team, I would like this bet a lot better. But in the NFC where there are at least 3 other Super Bowl caliber teams, I don't like the wager.

July 18,

As the Patriots showed last year, anything can happen.

As far as betting futures goes, my requirement is that if I am going to tie up money for that long of a term (6 months) I want at least 10-1 odds. That goes for ANY future bet.

The problem with the NFC is that there seem to be teams on the top and others on the bottom. The AFC has an entire group with no definite power team.

NFC power teams:
SF
STL
PHIL
the odds are terrible for these teams.
and maybe
CHI
GB
TB
NO

The AFC has a couple of teams that could be dominant
PIT
NE
But their odds are bad and you probably wouldnt expect them to beat the top 3 teams in the NFC next year.
(for the PIT fans screaming, as long as Kordell Stewart is the QB, there will ALWAYS be one game in the playoffs he will lose).

I was more than pleasantly surprised to receive a notice from Neteller this morning saying that $300 was deposited to my account!!

I applaud Betting Prophets for doing as he said he would....paying the contest winners in his Baseball Challenge. Thanik you, BP!

You have certainly gained my respect for following through on your promise. I wish you all the best to you in your future endeavours.

That really is good news. I am happy everything kinda worked out.

My guess is BP really made a bunch of money on the Lakers halftime and the two Boston halftimes.

I'd like to thank Betting Prophets for offer ing all of us a chance to win some money.
The time, effort and money is appreciated. It was quite generous of him. IMHO.
For those who posted negative comments about him, I hope that
you will consider that he did indeed pay the winners.

Well done BP and the best to you sir,

baz

I can confirm that I, too, was paid.

Thanks, BP.

Bazanster2 and MadameX,

Congratulations on finishing 1st and 2nd, respectively, in the contest and beating me out.

Also, thank you both for some kind words you directed my way last week.

I want to toss in my kudos to the winners and to BP. Happy endings are....well...HAPPY!!

BP...My comments at the end were fueled by the amount of mail I got, which I handled "off the air".
I would have said the same no matter if it was you or GOD or anyone else here...well, maybe GOD would get a "slide" in the matter...LOL.

This would be a nice time for you to join back in the forums....JMO.

It's really nice to see the nice comments and extending the olive branch to BP to consider returning to the forum. I hope he will decide to do just that.

Thanks, nostaw, et al, for your very nice remarks.

And I join Baz in congratulating Parlaythis in his back to back wins in the weekly contest! WOW!!!

Not sure what the heck all that was  But I personally like both Philly at 12-1 and Tampa Bay at 20-1. Couldn't hurt (too much...haha...) to put at least $20-$30 on each of those teams to win the Super Bowl, in my opinion. As for Vegas having Tampa Bay at 6-1 to win it all....didn't actually realize they were quite THAT great of a team already  20-1 seems much more like it to me considering you also have the likes of St. Louis, Philly and San Fran to deal with in the NFC (not to mention the inevitable yearly surprise team)

has tampa at 18-1 currently, their future odds are very high, also like Washington at 28-1
GOOD VALUE

ANd of course there is no sense betting on any of these teams when the Packers exist but go ahead anyway if you like

I'd be careful with Tampa this year.
They're actually my favorite team but I have to say their defense is getting old. What I mean by that is "If defense wins championships" Tampa should have a few.

Sometimes I think they are way overrrated.
Who nows? Coaching change my give them a spark.
