1st of all I apologize for sounding stupid but how does Vegas or anyone off shore come up with a halftime line?
Being court side at Fridays afternoon and Saturdays afternoon basketball games La Laf vs Texas St it seemed like the lines were all wrong. 1st of all Texas was favored in both games and lost outright. My system had Laf favored in both games by a point or two. But the halftime lines has me totally intrigued . In both games Laf had the lead and led in both games. Never did Texas have the lead. I think maybe they tied it once or twice on Friday .. But like I said Cagins front line was big led by 6'10 Akwuba and the kid from Sengal Gueye at 6'9. Bobcats have Sule who for every good move he makes a dumb one. Gueye is 6'9 and was guarding Harrell the 5'8 pt gd. It wasn't until in game 2 did I realize why a 6'9 230 pound kid could gd one of the best pt gds in the Sun Conf. Gueye on a dead ball out of bounds put the ball on his foot and had maybe 4 or 5 kept up the up by kicking it back to him then lightly kicked the ball to the ref. The ref laughed but I realized this kid is a soccer player from Sengal and only because he grew to 6'9 he probably gave up soccer. But that is why he has such great lateral movement. In game 2 he hurt his ankle with 4 minutes to go at he half. He was carried off the court.. But in 2nd half he didn't warm up much but with about 4 minutes in the 2nd half he went over to the coach and told him I'm ready. In the mean time Harrell had a career game scoring 25 points. The night before Gueye had locked him down on defense.
The game ending was unreal. Russell drives into the middle with Laf down by 1 73-72 and is called for an offense foul with 3.4 seconds on the clock. All tex st has to do is inbound it and game over. Tx St calls timeout and everyone is celebrating on the bench. Ball inbound is under Laf basket. Laf player on the ball gets a deflection and Butts who came off the bench for Laf picks up the ball 2 feet from the basket and lays it in. Laf now up by 1 with .04 on the clock Baseball pass intercepted by Akwuba Buzzer goes off Tex St devastated.. You can't celebrate to early fellows and you never throw the inbounds pass under their basket. It made no difference to me because I had Laf +3 and +4.5 at halftime. I just didn't want over time.

but getting back to the original question who made Tx St a favorite at half time. I can understand the original line they make but how did they make them a favorite in the 2nd half. I know I have an advantage sitting court side so who calls up Vegas and says " Tex st is coming back lets make them the favorite. I think in both games that's 80 minutes Bobcats might have had the lead for a few minutes ..you don't have to be a rocket scientist to see Laf had the 2 best players on the court.. There is no home crowd with maybe 200 people in the gym. 6 band members
6 cheer leaders and 5 dancing team all sitting in the stands far away.
Is it all statistics to predict half time lines. How do they come up with a number and line. Do they know Gyeye hurt his ankle and might not come back? I won big on the games big time plus the 2 halftime lines. Then driving home I'm thinking why didn't I put more down being greedy.
Laf coach did realize Russell was being ignored on friday night. This kid can play and was a LSU recruit . How he got to Laf is beyond me. But the coach put him at the pt and he handled the ball , About 2 minutes of him playing the pt he took 2 NBA 3's and swished them just as tex made a run..
Laf coach subs way to much. He has 1 starter on the floor with 4 bench kids. You can see the continuity wasn't there. At one point with 5 minutes left in the game he puts in a player who looks like the waterboy and a 2 pt game. He played about 3 minutes and thank god never touched the ball He looked liked the deer in headlights . He was sitting at the end of the bench when he was summoned to sub in.. He actually looked at the coach and pointed to himself and must of said " me" since it was a 2 pt game.

anyway with the c-19 and no games I had a blast. Its also nice when you win the game and halftime line
But would like to know how do they come up with a halftime line They were wrong this weekend in Sam Marcus but were right probably everywhere else.

The adjusted half Line has nothing to do with who might actually look like the better team at halftime. It is set based on original line and halftime score

thanks ezee that makes sense but what about if someone gets hurt . Like Russell the best player for Laf. If he out that has an impact on the game and they wait until the 1st half is over. You can't make a wager on the second half until the 1st one is over right ???

Live wagering offers lines for a few minutes into each quarter ..also 3rd quarter and halftime lines usually posted with about 90 seconds left in the 2nd quarter.

BAS has the most complete and largest number of games w/ lines you will find.

I take advantage of injuries and foul situations wherever possible.

call me if you have any questions

Box,
I had some small $ on ULL Moneyline... and as they were ahead, I wanted to put some on Tex St (at +4 or +5 hopefully) and try to get a little middle..

BUT... the "Live betting" kept shading Tex St as even money or very small dog on the Moneyline.. and I could only get +1.5 laying -115... EVEN THO throughout most the game when they were behind by 4-7 pts...

Something didn't smell right.... it's like they knew Tex St was gonna come back and win, but weren't gonna pay u any odds for them being down by 5pts...

anywayyy... I saw Tex St take the lead at the end and thought I was a goner.. lucky for me ULL made a play

as far as 2nd half lines go...
only time I try to play a side is IF what I believe to be the better team has played poorly and trails at half, then I might play em to rally and get the win
OR
If a game that some of the sharper guys think should be an "OVER" had a subpar 1h, I'll try the 2h to go over..

the total viewpoint seems to work out more often than not..

Always appreciate the "Eye" point of view you bring to the Sun Conf and teams you've watched...

Best o'Luck!!

Thank you guys. The live gambling I understand. It?s the half time line that puzzles me. I?m not sure what the box score says. I never even followed up on the rebound stats. But you could see laf owned the paint and altered everything inside. I have been to many games and lost when teams adjust to the 1 st half play. Good coaches make adjustments. At one point the tex coach went zone with 4 minutes in the game it caught laf off guard and they missed the shot and tex got the ball. Anyway watching live is so much better. I miss my Marist games and they beat Siena last night. I took Siena -6 and lost. But Pickett the best player in the Maac last Friday looked so bad and over weight. And last night think he had 6 points

jordan posted already lordofballs you got a gift playing moneyline La Laf . thinking back over the weekend I loved getting the pts but I had Laf a favorite in both games. I should of played the moneylines in both games. Tx state cannot celebrate with 3 seconds to go... and then in bound under your own basket... they should of had a set play ...and Laf did have someone on the ball when tx was in bounding.. I am amazed in the final seconds of any game you should always have someone on the out of bounds passer. Its very simple . Ask any player if you have a few seconds to inbound would you rather have a good view with no one on you and no pressure or a 6'8 player doing jumping jacks in your face blocking your view... if you ask 100 players your choice ,100 will say no one on me. Yet you see all the time with good college coaches doubling someone and no pressure...I don't care who you are they all all wrong.
