yes Lisnard was awarded a "Lucky Loser" .....infact in this tourney three "Lucky Losers" have found spots in the main draw. The other two were Beck (replaced Kafelnikov) and Mutis (replaced Ferrero)
For those of you that don't know..........a "LL" is awarded to the highest ranked player (or playerS) to lose in LAST round of qualifying. In some rare circumstances a player who fails to sign the "lucky loser" sign up sheet is out of luck.........meaning if say only 4 players sign in for the "LL" spot then only those players are eligible to enter the main draw.
I have been to tourney where some idiot forgets to sign in and some guy pulls out and he misses a chance to play in main draw. Of course the next guy on the list is one happy dude
Then there's those times where a guy signs in as a "LL" and actually gets accepted into main draw.......yet he can't be found" (at hotel, with a hooker..etc. etc.) then in that case it goes to next guy on list........and you guys thought all the tennis action was on the court
I remember this one tourney where this guy was just about to get on airplane (fly from London to New York) only to find out he was in the main draw.......he was on the court an hour later...and eneded up making semis.....
watch out for "LL"......when ya get a "2nd chance" ya got nothing to lose...and no pressure........as far as I know......2 Lucky Losers have gone on to win tourneys in the last 3 years
