JESSE LUMSDEN only wished he had the time to get off the team VIA train yesterday at the Fallowfield stop.
"I'd like to see what Barrhaven and Nepean look like now," the Ticats rookie running back said of the neighbourhood he grew up in, from Grades 1-6, while his father Neil, a retired CFL star, worked for the Rough Riders in their front office. "I still remember climbing up on the roof at St. Pats and getting the balls kids put up there."

Lumsden will be getting a lot of balls tonight, when he fittingly gets his first CFL start at Frank Clair Stadium against the Renegades. The top rusher in OUA history and a candidate to make the NFL's Seattle Seahawks before being sidelined by injury a couple of months ago, the 6-foot-2, 226-pounder assumes the position left vacated by the trading of Troy Davis to Edmonton on Wednesday.
"Those are real big shoes to fill. Troy led by example and I learned a lot from him," said Lumsden, a strong and fast runner Renegades coach Joe Paopao said was about as easy to tackle as a boulder. "It's just like your first start at high school or your first start at college. I'll have the jitters, but I hope to get them out of the way pretty quickly. I just want to stay focused, work hard and try to do my best."
EXTRA POINTS: Interesting matchups tonight will see Renegades Ts George Hudson and Val St. Germain square off against Ticat DEs Tim Cheatwood and James Cotton. Hudson and Cheatwood have an ugly history that includes the insistence of the Ottawa veteran that he was spit on. "I don't expect to have any problem with him," said Cheatwood. "As long as everybody keeps the game clean." .... Another area of focus tonight when Hamilton has the ball will be the "weak side" of the field, where Hamilton's best receivers, Craig Yeast and D.J. Flick, will be going up against the Renegades' top defenders, Korey Banks and Crance Clemons .... Renegades have made seven roster moves for tonight's game ...
