You will see alot of players and teams hit the wall this time of year. For some this is the most games the have played in a season in their life. College hoops is so much different then high school. Practices are longer, pre season is longer, road trips cross county, school work much more challenging ( if they decide to go tha route), parents not there looking out for them, etc....Especially teams without much size who were competive early in season, teams starting lots of underclassmen, teams hit by injuries, etc..

They beat up on cupcakes in december, are excited about conference play in january, but February is when it gets grueling.

So how does this help us pick one team over another??? Take the teams with senior leadership as opposed to those made up of 1st and 2nd year players?

Yeah, I think that's what he is saying. I have a test case in my own backyard. Wichita State has 3 freshman starters and 5 contributors in all who all get significant minutes. They suck on the road, but then again, they've had senior teams and done that.

This team has been very very good at home. If we see slippage from them at home, that would be a good sign that this team is suffering from freshman fatigue. Last night (February 9), favored by 2, beat SMS 71-63. No tiring yet.

There can't be too many division 1 teams that start 4 or 5 freshmen, so if this team doesn't suffer from mental and physical exhaustion by the end of the year, no team will.

The coach here is pretty candid. If that becomes a problem, I'll find out and report back.

I suspect it is true. I've heard a former WSU player talk about it on a pre-game show a couple of weeks ago.

If you think for one moment that coach Turgeon candid attitude will hurt this team your nuts. He is a great coach and maybe even the best coach that Wichita has seen any many many years. With great performances at times by these freshman it could get pretty exciting down here in the next few years as long as they stick around and dont run off. This team wasnt to bad a few years back until Maurice Evans and his father thought they where better than the team. For the first time ever I think WIchita State is really heading in the right direction and could be a top 40 team in the 3 years. I know sounds crazy but this coach can get some very good talent to come here.

You misunderstood what i wrote. If the freshmen become tired, hurting the team's performance, the coach is candid enough to let the public know exactly what is going on.

I'd be surprised if the Shocks don't win the Valley in the next three years. With the new facility, recruiting will be easier. He's already shown he can recruit circles around the last three or four guys.

Coach Smithson was Joesph Stalin with a whistle. Evans had enough testicular girth to tell coach what to do with his whistle.

You've awfully sensitive.....are you the athletic director?....or coach Turgeon's mom???

I did misunderstand you then. Please try to stay away from the smart ass comments I really don't want to hear it. I thought your post was saying that Turegon is to candid and can hurt the team. I think this guy is a great addition to this program and could build long time winning program.... I amm sorry if I hurt your feeling by my last post :)
