Many of us today attend church or some service on Easter Sunday.. was looking at homlies.com and father gilhooly's homily wasn't updated...I don't pretend to be a die hard Catholic..maybe attend church 1-2 times a month.. always on Christmas and Easter day ...last night watched WTEN on TV the mass from St Peters in Latin ...brings back those alter boy memories ..this might sound a little sacrilegious but we alter boys were paid for weddings and funerals ...the life of an altar boy was between 8-12 [ little league years} I stayed until I was 14 because back then I did every funeral and wedding.. I was the No 1 altar boy in our parish. made $2 bucks for a funeral and anywhere from $3 to 5 for a wedding.. back then that was big bucks ...if invited to the wedding forget it .. made maybe $10 bucks
But easter had the Stations of the cross during passion week ..it was the altar boys hell going to 12 or 13 stations,stopping as the priest recites his prayers then swinging the incense back and forth.. it was torture ...almost all the altar boys would tell the priest they couldn't make the schedule on thursday and friday..but my father would have non of that.. he sent me ...I guess that;s why I was always getting weddings and funerals ,
at some point in my life think it was when they went from latin to english I lost the faith.. the mystery was over.. everything was a mystery but now I understand it all ..all thru college at north Texas don't think I never went to church..married a Texan who was a Methodist...had 4 kids and baptized them ,but rarely went to church except Easter and Christmas day .. Bought a huge Victorian house between 3 churches in a small village in NY My wife started attending the Catholic church just for services then she must of got hit by a bolt of lightning and converted after 15 years. Now she goes every sunday and if I don't go I get the guilty look ..
I read father gilholleys homlies on the internet even though he passed away years ago..a former professor at a Catholic college If you read my last post Palm sunday I talk about him .. here at MJ's but wait only 148 people viewed ..that is pretty shameful.. Palm Sunday was the heading...now if I put St Peters vs Rider in the MAAC tonite strong game.. it would get 1,200 viewers..that means many of you viewers are " heathen's"..Palm Sunday,Easter Sunday means nothing to ya'll [ uh oh,been in Texas to long"}
So although not many people here at MJ's will read this post I forgive you.. as we altar boys used to say

i do hope everyone does have a nice easter .. I'm going over to my daughters house for an easter egg hunt with 2 of my grandchildren and dinner.. I just ordered a red Phillie bandana for my mask to wear..stay healthy be safe and stay 6 feet from each other MJ and AE thanks for keeping this site up ..
