Seems like a government ploy. State of Texas pushing those pecan pies. They probably cause cancer and make you sterile. Pass for me. I'm a rhubarb guy.

"A pecan, like the fruit of all other members of the hickory genus, is not truly a nut, but is technically a drupe (like a peach), a fruit with a single stone or pit . . . it splits off in 4 sections." - Wikipedia

I would definitely eat some pecan pie. It is not one of my four or five favorite pies, but it is definitely in the top twenty.

I have a huge pecan tree in my backyard that was grown in a Dixie cup in my kitchen 30 years ago. I should take a picture of it but I'm lazy.

I don't like pecans all that much and pecan pie is never on my menu. Kind of a drag to be honest. It's like seafood. Hate it, except for crab legs. I wish things were different, I'd have a whole new menu to choose from, but I've tried it every which way and they all sucked. Hate seafood.

Any time, is the right time, for pie.

Hope this helps,
FDC

Pecan pie is insanely good stuff, and a scoop of quality sweet cream or vanilla ice cream makes it even better
