1 - Caught a Soriano foul behind home plate barehanded in '01 at Yankee Stadium. We were sitting just a little bit over from where the netting behind homeplate protects the crowd. Pop up foul that took a mean hop maybe 10 rows in front of us. I had to lean over the tunnel area next to my seat to catch it one-handed, with a ballpark sausage on my lap (it survived and I ate it).
2 - A year later, also at Yankee stadium, I was sitting in foul territory along the first base line, fairly close to the foul pole and watching BP. Liner comes screaming towards us - looked like it was going straight for my head at one point (frightening), but it kept bending towards foul territory - I had to lean back with my left hand to try to catch it. Hit my hand right smack in the middle, but wasn't able to hang on. I ended up using the cool beer cup I had and then some ice from a soda later to relieve the soreness. That shit hurt. Not a catch, but I knocked that liner down.
I love how when you catch a ball a mother always comes up asking for it for her kid. And then if you say no they offer to buy it. Like that is the kind of memory your kid would love to have of getting his first fly ball at a major league game
