YTD 7-4 Bank = + $462

San Francisco v. San Diego

Jason Schmidt is 5-2 against San Diego since '97 with a 3.61 ERA, but his ERA on the road last year was 4.88.
Adam Eaton is 2-1 with a 4.5 ERA against the Giants.
San Diego is going to have a lot of problems with their bullpen late in games, especially without Hoffman.

Recommended Play OVER 8

Toronto vs. New York

Toronto has had problems with lefty starters throughout last season and this season should be no different. The Yankee bats were hot yesterday, but Jeter is a pretty big loss for their lineup.
Lidle is 3-2 with a 3.66 ERA vs. the Yankees. I don't see the Yankees putting up 8 runs again, and I don't see the Blue Jays hitting Pettitte much either

Recommended Play UNDER 9.5

Rangers v. Angels
I'm not necessarily sold on the theory of home teams that lose the first game of a season opener win the 2nd, but in this case I think it holds true. What surprised me most about opening night (even though I bet Texas) was the lack of effort from the Angels. They just looked flat and bored. I think Sciosscia whips them back into shape today. Chan Ho Park has had lots of success against the Angels, but I'll bite with Mickey Calloway who has had a great spring (3.54 era)

Recommended Play ANGELS -131

Seattle v. Oakland
Freddy Garcia is 5-4 vs Oakland with a 6.12 ERA.
Hudson is 7-4 against Seattle with a 3.46 ERA
Big obnoxious Oakland crowd will be on hand and I think Oakland gets to Garcia tomorrow. Hudson has looked good so far and I thnk he can handle the pressure of opening night.

Recommended Play OAKLAND -145

YTD 7-4 Bank = + $462

3)Angels - 131 131/100 (W) +100
4)Oakland -145 145/100 (W) +100

Just my opinion, but I think baseball really needs to rethink its scheduling. Baseball is a 162 game season composed of series which are generally 3 or 4 games. Every manager looks at the season as a series of series which it is. Teams try to win series and the more they do the better. Theoretically, if a team won every series they would finish with a .666 record which is unheard of.

I know I am nitpicking, but the bye day at the beginning of the season after one game isn't fair to teams. Cincinnati and the Mets should be further punished for their lack of performance on Monday. Their bullpen got rocked, and now they get a day off for absolutely no reason. I know its a scheduling conflict or something, but I've never got a straight answer from the league as to why this has to be. The majority answer was to allow for a rain out for game one, but they can make up games with double-headers later in the season. Hell, it was snowing in Baltimore today and they got the game in. I think teams should be punished for lack of performance out the gate. Just my two cents on a real small issue.

Adding Dodgers +190

Odalis Perez is IMO the best young arm in baseball. He faded a little toward the end of last year fatigue, but was lights out the beginning of the year with a fresh arm. He has been well rested during spring. This line represents extreme value at +190. I'll take him at these odds against anybody during the season.
