Elderly woman arrested for tampering with sausages

An elderly woman is in custody for her suspected involvement in a series of sausage tampering incidents at several grocery stores in the city?s west end.
The woman was arrested at a grocery store in the Dundas St. W. & Bloor St. W. area on Friday at around 4:30 p.m.
Police believe that the woman is responsible for previous incidents of sewing needles being inserted into various brands of sausages.
The Star has previously documented five cases in which needles were embedded in Piller?s sausages, all sold from Toronto grocers in May, but police would not explicitly connect the incidents.
The woman is scheduled to appear in court on Saturday.
