Weather Update---While capping this game I came across tomorrow's weather forecast--
High:
78?F

Scattered T-Storms

Wind:
From the South at 17 mph

Precip: 50 %

Max. Humidity: 53 %

Was thinking of taking the OVER (69) but now am reconsidering it with the weather looking like it may rain and storm. Anyone else have any thoughts on it?

Iam still taking the over...in the rain, it favors the WRs....the DBs gotta take short choppy steps and cant pursue the ball as quick.

Its raining in Salt Lake City....Provo is like 2 counties down...the raining is either JUST missing it or little showers are there. So at looks good for now

honolulu, Hi, USA
Hellah 10 - Are you some kind of meteorologist/or weatherman? That is is pretty map!! FYI, I did play the over but not as much as I would like. Still have reservations about the passing game if it pours. Also, be advised that Hawaii's QB sustained a broken pinkie 1.5 weeks prior to the Eastern Illinois game. He played quite well but shudder at the thought of him attempting to throw the ball in the rain with his bad finger which is covered by a special protective covering. If the weather holds up, I'll consider uping my over bet and taking the pts. Hawaii will come to play and supposedly has a better defense than last year. Their O line is huge and will give Chang good protection. Receivers are speedy and should be able to get separation from BYU's dbs. Also, they have some good runners. And Hawaii has the X factor - it has excellent special teams - good kicker and punter (another Ray Guy???); and don't forget Chad Owens, one of the most exciting return man in the country. He supposedly is the full time slot man but I do suspect that Coach Jones will use him as a return man for this game. That's my $.02 worth. Hope I have been of some help with my insight on the game.

Folks I have heard this stuff before about Hawaii. Then they get on the plane. However they Leave the officials at home. Then they drop a stink bomb and don't cover. For you guys I hope this is the year. The O/U looks like the safer play.

I don't pay to much attetion to these numbers when I see them. But here they are Haw 41 & 3 ATS when they win the game SU. BUT,BUT 21 & 59 ATS when they lose. These number to tell a story about a team. So maybe useful?

I know a lot of people seem to be on hawaii, and at SIA you can now get +12.5. But there are some things from the 1st game these teams played that worries me a little. Hawaii played a division I-AA team Eastern Illinois. Hawaii let up 156 yards on the ground and another 319 through the air, allowing the Panthers to control the ball for more than 37 minutes. This is a d 1-AA team controlling the ball for 37 minutes!! If they give BYU that much time forget about it.

BYU's running defense is weak but won't hurt them as much because Hawaii doesn't run the ball well. BYU also had a good r.b. in sophomore Marcus Whalen who carried the ball 19 times for 140 yards.

Does any of this stuff make you think twice against hawaii. If they allowed that much yardage to a shit 2a program what is byu going to do to them??

Any thoughts?

naaaa I still like Hawaii. I just think they are well coached...June Jones is a pretty good coach IMO. And I think Timmy Chang is one of the best QBs in the nation, despite his pinky finger.

Hellas10...outside of last year I fail to find any successfull priogram that June Jones has headed up..coattailed on a few...
and as a pro qb his record speaks volumes of failure his only claim to fame was the way he could spin a football....
.
RESPECT YOUR INPUT....... NOT BEING A WISE ASS.....
BUT I KNOW FIRST HAND THE PROS CONSIDER HIM A JOKE !

So you think coaching is the main difference tonight? IMO, games that are a pickem usually come down to coaching and execution. So am I correct to assume that you think this is an evenly matched game?? Still find it hard to give up 12.5 on the byu side, might just wait till the weekend.

good luck to everyone

Southwest
Here's the hour by hour weather prediction for Provo tonight. . . looks like showers at the start of the game with scattered showers in the late 1st half and 2nd half:

3 PM Scattered T-Storms 73? N/A? 54? 60% 51% From the South Southwest at 8 mph

4 PM T-Storms 74? N/A? 55? 60% 51% From the South Southwest at 8 mph

5 PM T-Storms 73? N/A? 55? 60% 53% From the South at 8 mph

6 PM Scattered T-Storms 72? N/A? 56? 60% 57% From the South at 9 mph

7 PM Scattered T-Storms 70? N/A? 55? 60% 61% From the South at 10 mph

8 PM Scattered T-Storms 67? N/A? 55? 60% 65% From the South Southeast at 10 mph

9 PM Scattered T-Storms 65? N/A? 54? 60% 67% From the South Southeast at 10 mph

10 PM Scattered T-Storms 64? N/A? 53? 60% 67% From the South Southeast at 9 mph

Personally, Hawaii scares me with their defense. . . I would have been happy to take the points in this one given the result from last year, but how can this Rainbow team give up over 30 points to Eastern Illinois??? Imagine what a potent offense like BYU will do tonight rain or no rain? I think the only two plays to consider are the over and/or BYU.

Bluegrass!
I'm always leary of betting against a team that's in a revenge type situation. Rainbows blistered the Cougars last year in Hawaii to screw up their perfect 12-0 season. Long plane ride back home, and the Cougars have to be salivating to get their hands on them since their embarassing loss last year in front of a national t.v. audience. Rain or shine, BYU rolls...((BUT hey, what the hell do i know?))
