Since we may have to transition to individual threads, maybe not, I'll do this for now. Some quotes:
Heavyweight champions Wladimir Klitschko and David Haye went at it verbally at today?s press conference in Hamburg. Haye showed up 30 minutes late and refused to shake Wlad?s hand.

Klitschko: ?I respect you as a boxer, but not as a person. I?m gonna knock you out in the ring and bring you back to reality. Then you will be a better person and have better manners.?

Haye: ?It?s going to be fun watch this robot start malfunctioning, that?s what?s going to happen?real fast. I?m healthy, speed is ridiculous, punch power is there, I?m just in a really good place. I am so happy the fight is happening now and not a couple of years ago as I am a much better fighter now. I can?t wait to get in there and do what I am going to do.?

One thing I have to agree with Haye about. Klitschko does resemble a damn robot with his mechanical motions. Were it not for Klitschko's questionable chin, I would be all over him wager wise. I think Haye may be crazy enough to get creative and try a new approach to get inside on Klitschko.

I am all over Wlad at between -200 and -175 HUGE.

Wlad UNDER 6 rounds BIG.

I think this fight could look like Vitali vs Herbie Hide, small, fast, hard punching guy with a bad chin gets taken to task by a giant with heavy hands.

I can't help thinking about Haye getting stopped in the amateurs by Solis and a guy who does tiles for a living.
I don't put much stock in his amateur losses but he was staggering all over the place against Jimmy Twite and I don't think you can mend a bad chin.

As a pro he was decked and staggered badly by Lolenga Mock who is a Super Middleweight at best.

He then gets dropped and stopped by "Old as dirt" Carl Thompson.

Becomes World champ at Cruiser against old, washed up Mormeck who again decks Haye and is ahead on points before being stopped.

Beats Enzo (We all see how good Enzo was) and proclaims he has cleared out the division. I guess he had never heard of Cunningham or Adamek.

BARELY beats a walking totem pole in Valuev.

Again get's decked and hurt by Monte "No bullets left in two guns" Barrett, although the dumb arse ref ruled it a slip.

Was Huffing and puffing like the big bad wolf against big Piglet John Ruiz.

Don't get me wrong, I actually think Haye has the speed and power to beat Wlad if he just go's out guns blazing for 4 rounds.

I just don't think he has the balls to do that.
He talks a big game but then fights conservatively.

If he was unwilling to engage the powder puff punching Valuev, it will only take one Wlad jab to have him in "Fuck this" mode.

The fight that really threw me over the edge for my bets was against Fraudley.
David had a shitebag who does not want to be there or throw punches and he still didn't throw a punch until the third round.

If he is that conservative against Valuev and Harrison, I just don't see him engaging Wlad.

I believe Haye will try to stay away, start getting caught with jabs, and will be caught by a big right hand and be finished. He might get up but he will stagger all over the place and the ref will stop it.

I think he will be caught quickly, within 3 rounds.

If the fight go's longer I expect him to still get stopped as he will run out of gas and be broken down.

He is also talking about retiring soon and once fighters start thinking down that path, they are already out of the game.

If he come out like Hagler against Hearns, he has a shot but, as they say, a leopard doen't change it's spots and David is a cautious fighter at Heavyweight.

Good luck all :toast: :toast:

Love the write up paulie! Agree Haye's only shot is to go for broke and try to nail Klitschko's chin. But as they say, once a guy gets tagged, all the plans go out the window. Sometimes I think all the brash talk is a cover for FEAR. Harsh words won't knock Klitschko out. Your take on this may have swung me in Klitschko's direction.

Not sure if I agree that he refused to engage Valuev. I think he did all he could with a neanderthal like that. I think it goes over 6, but it may not make it to the cards. Thing about these types of match ups, we expect one thing but get something very different. Haye is not stupid. He won't underestimate Klitschko's power. Also, say what you will, Haye is a sharpshooter. Crisp, accurate punching, and a very strong finisher. He will go into overdrive if he has a guy wobbly. Nice uppercuts, good body work, nice left hook/right cross. One never knows, do one?

Haye vulnerable but reflexes and speed make him hard to hit consistently. Truth be told, they can both hurt the other. Wlad may have improved since his losses but people have to admit he hasn't really been pressed. Brewster II, Peter II both shot. Shot Rahman, Austin come on, Byrd II diminished, Sultan just not that good, Thompson earnest but over-matched and no real pop, Chagaev with hep C barely beat Carl Drummond and Travis Walker, Chambers a good boxer but small and not a puncher. If Wlad catches a clean shot(s), a real possibility, a la Sanders he's gonna fall. Not sure Wlad would have stopped Valuev if they fought and I don't think he would have dropped Ruiz like that either. Shoot, he poked at Rahman for 7 rounds without throwing a right hand what's he gonna do here. We have a real fight on our hands and any outcome is possible.

i`m a klit fan....i think they`re unique athletes and i think they get a bad rap from some fans....they`re winners........

but i think this is a real hurdle for wlad....he`s fighting a relatively young and "un-used up" guy that has some quicks and some power....and who seems fearless....

i`m waiting to see where this line goes....if it heads north of +200,i`ll have to take a whack with the brit....

not crazy about haye, while i have serious respect for the klitschkos....but this is gambling, not facebook....

won`t be a large wager....so deep down,i`ll be rooting for wlad....

I think maybe the most dangerous thing for Haye, which he may be responsible for, is a totally focused Klitschko that is not looking past/taking him lightly. And if we are to believe Chinese philosophy, that a war is won before it is fought, than Haye is beaten. I think the Brit created a monster, more than existed already. Sometimes "more is less" and maybe Haye shot his mouth off too much.

remember haye's best punch is the roundhouse to the back of the head

My off shore has the round prop lined OVER 7.5-140. I can get WILL NOT GO 10 FULL ROUNDS-155 in a local sports book. THINKING!!! Klitschko is way better than the other monster Valuez, but maybe Haye thinks seen one you seen them all. That would be a huge mistake.

Klitschko-Haye; more comments

Klitschko-Haye; more comments

By Johnny Benz, Doghouse Boxing. - Wladimir Klitschko vs. David Haye takes place on July 2nd. Ahead of the clash, Klitschko was asked by Ring Magazine's Managing Editor Joseph Santoliquito what his prediction was for his upcoming challenge?

Santoliquito asked: "What are you predicting for the final outcome of the Haye fight?"

Klitschko answered: "I will teach Haye a lesson on behavior and respect. I will enjoy it for 12 rounds and then knock him out. Haye will be No. 50 on my knockout list."
How I interpret this is Klitschko will employ the usual incessant jab tactic, fighting long range/stand off distance. Break him down via the "safety first" approach. Haye may try to break Klitschko's fist with his face though and alter the plan, OR, catch Klitschko on the button, and then it gets interesting.

more stuff: extract from popular boxing site

more stuff: extract from popular boxing site

Trainer Emanuel Steward and Klitschko set up training camp in a picturesque Austrian village, taking advantage of the pure air and altitude the mountains provide. Steward likes the angry Wladimir Haye has brought out. "With Wladimir really, really upset with David, emotion is going to come into this, which will make Wladimir much more aggressive. I believe that Wladimir will stop David in four." Sparring partners report a primed Klitschko. Cruiserweight champion Steve Cunningham told writer Przemyslaw Garczarczyk, ?Wlad is an unbelievable athlete. He?s a very strong, athletic fighter, more athletic than people think. Wlad uses his height well ? lots of fighters with a height advantage don?t know how to do it right.? Cruiserweight contender Ola Afolabi concurs, ?Wlad hit me with a right hand and I had a headache for four days. You think you can block the punches - no way. He hits you clean and your whole body shakes. That jab is something else. It?s going to destroy Haye.?

weights

Just in: Wladimir Klitschko weighed 110 kilos/242.6 lbs and David Haye weighed 96.5 kilos/212.8 lbs for their heavyweight title unification clash on Saturday in Hamburg, Germany.

Well, looking again at the last 4 "opponents" that David Haye beat, I don't see them as outstanding preparation for Klitschko. Barrett/Valuev/Ruiz/Harrison. He did gain experience fighting a HUGE mo-fo in Valuev, but he doesn't have the skill and power of Klitschko. The other 3 were stepping stones/practice fighting heavies. Barrett and Ruiz were pretty much broken down valise cases. Harrison not really top shelf either. I see Haye running all over the ring looking to land big shots if he sees an opening. Like I said, I'm betting Klitschko.
