classic...... only the Bears (or Bengals) would go for two with .44 seconds remaining. what did they expect, 18 points??????? had the over 37 and with the weather and all the turnovers, would have taken the PUSH with the extra point. Al's gambling hints here and there are funny, I also enjoy Nick Bakay on sportscenter on Tuesday. Except of late, the games he is making fun of for close or wacky finishes, affecting the pointspread, are some that I am playing.....

What I do enjoy is the simple fact that there is someone operating in the "mainstream" media who recognises that there are millions of us out there who watch the game a lot differently from other fans. :toast:
I'd go a step further and propose that we should have a specific commentary team solely for the purpose of covering a game from a bettor's perspective. Anyone else keen on that idea?

He should just tell us who he bet in the beginning of the game as well...maybe he'll post to madjack, and give us some edge

Another good one last year...a complete blowout, and Indy was "running out the clock" and their opponent just let them take off...Michaels...."This one was over, and now it's really over!"

Hey Anders

Although I dont see the crew explaining:

"Okay fellas if your holding an under you need Chicago to score a Td and then make a 2 pt conversion"

...I will say that more and more reporters, analysts, ESPN especially( which I give them credit for recognizing their audience)and such refer to the gambling aspect openly.

One of my favorite shows at the time ,10 years back or so, was on the old FNN channel. Wayne Root and Mike Warren did a pointspread focused wrap up show on Sun nites.

I think a show with that format would get a nice little audience.

Magking -- I don't think we'd see a crew explaining stuff like that, but I'd at least like to hear some commentators at least referencing the "game within the game".

It might just be off hand remarks like Al, but more offten, or more explicitly.

"You're going to have to see some points here if you have the over in this one".

"I hope you got the extra half point here."

"That one made the dog bettors happy."

I always think its like the 800 pound gorilla running around on the field during game time, and they never even mention him.

The NFL seems to hate it, but as others have said before, who do they think is watching the 37-7 MNF game in the 4th quarter when the over-under is 45? Your die-hard fan? Give me a break.

On the course!
The NFL wants us to think they "won't tollerate" talk of gambling. Do you honestly think they believe the stands, and bars, and livingrooms, are filled with "fans"?

Everyone has a taste on the game!

And yes.......Al Michaels bets on these games. Don't think otherwise. That useless fuhk Dennis Miller did, too! Christ, he acted like some 22 year old in a Vegas book for the first time.

All I know is this, if not for the "COMMON JOE" gambling on this games, most of the players would be out of job. Answer me this,
could you really sit on a couch and watch a complete baseball game with to hard throwing pitches for 3 hrs and enjoy it, or watch GB and Chic like we did on Monday, what a boring as game. I had money on the game and lost interest.
I really wonder what the Fan to Gambler ratio is. I think it's
about 30% real fans and the rest is made of gamblers. Gambling is an epidemic. You see it everywhere, Casinos, Internet, Bingo
Halls, Slot Machine Parlors, weekly Card games. I know, because i do them all.
I personally could not watch any sport without putting money on it.
If the sporting world and Vegas united, man, they could build 200million dollar building and be able to pay for them is 5 yrs.
OOPS, their allready doing that. LOL
