MAYBE,,just maybe because most normal people don't associate a fucking rope noose knot with hanging black people? Clearly NASCAR should have investigated more thoroughly, but obviously they didn't want it to get leaked and then it looks like they were hiding something. In the digital age, both information and misinformation move at high speed, and you only have one chance to get out ahead of something. This is the consequence of that.

Yeah, but blaming the source of the story doesn't fit the narrative.

The reporters will continue to update the story as the results of the investigation are revealed but these guys will just continue to blame the media for the initial report.
