all of a sudden my mouse is VERY sensitive. it double clicks everything. i go to close one window and it closes 3 or 4 (bop-bop-bop-bop). WTF is wrong? it sends mail multiple times too and i can't drag and drop ANYTHING, it just clicks it open. do i need a new mouse? i went into control panel and checked the adjustments, made new adjustments, changed them back, etc. does not help. i'm getting ready to smash the damn thing.

new mouse?

oh, i cleaned it too.

Jack,

How old is it? I have had them go out in 6 mos., probably just time to buy a new one. I always have an extra mouse & keyboard around the house for just such an event.

Jack,

I think I've had this problem before as well. Don't quite remember the resolution though.

First, double click on Mouse in the Control Panel. Find "Files and Folders" on the Buttons tab and make sure that "Double clickk to open an item" is checked rather than Single click. Also, be sure the Double click speed arrow is right in the middle.

Try to reboot if you haven't already. I would recommend you get an Optical mouse where you'll never have to clean it out. I have one I can send you in exchange for a MadJack's shirt. ;)
