What is greater than God, More evil than the devil, The poor have it, The rich need it, And if you eat it, you'll die?

When asked this riddle, 80% of kindergarten kids got the answer, compared to 17% of Stanford University seniors.

The Truth
The riddle has been around for a long time, but there is no evidence that research was ever conducted on the comparative answers of Kindergartners and Stanford University seniors.
There is also no evidence that this was reported on Paul Harvey.

The riddle:
What is greater than God, More evil than the devil, The poor have it,
The rich don't need it, And if you eat it, you'll die?

The answer to the riddle is "nothing."
Nothing is greater than God.
Nothing is more evil than the Devil.
The poor have nothing.
The rich need nothing.
And if you eat nothing, you'll die.

The Pope has one but doesn't use his
Clinton uses his all the time
Mickey Mouse has an unusual one
Liberace never used his on women
Jerry Seinfeld is very, very proud of his.
Cher claims that she took on 3
We never saw Lucy use Desi's
What is it?

Fox-Chicken and sack of corn.

Farmer has to get all 3 into town. In doing so he has to cross a creek in dilapidated boat that can only carry him and one of the above at a time. His prob is how does he get all 3 across river by carrying only one at a time. He can never leave chicken and corn alone or chicken will eat the corn--he can never let chicken and fox alone or fox will eat chicken. How does he get them all across?

take the chicken. drop him off.
go back.
pick up fox, take him over. drop him off.
pick chicken up, take him back. drop him off.
pick corn up, take it over. drop it off.
go back.
pick up chicken. take him over. and off to town you go.

only a dumb redneck from KY would have the experience to work this problem out. ;)

Ok brother Dawg Your toooo sharp :)

I'll give you one a little tougher.

Guy has nuke programed to go off in 1 minute. You walk into where it is. There is desk with 2 red buttons on it. One button if pushed will disarm bomb the other will set it off and you don't know which is which.
However there are also 2 computers sitting on table. One is programed to tell only the truth--the other only to lie.
Again you don't know which is which.
You are allowed to ask only one computer one question and then must make your decision of which button to push.
What one question could you ask either computer to determine which botton is correct one to disarm nuke.

yyz - too funny!

Here's one:

There is a common English word that is nine letters long. Each time you remove a letter from it, it still remains an English word - from nine letters right down to a single letter. What is the original word, and what are the words that it becomes after removing one letter at a time?
