Help with scanner......

My friend gave me a scanner but I cant get it workin
I loaded everything from the disk and all ,but the scanner wont work, my puter talks about the problem being it needs a driver but then it wont locate a driver for it so I am lost. HELP

what is your operating system? win 98?

...you may need to go into your control panel and double-click "add hardware"....

device is insatlled but there is a problem....
the drivers for this device are not installed code 28
windows was unable to locate a driver for this device

well i deleted software, unplugged USB cord since I plugged it in fitrt before....
then loaded software then plugged in USB and same prob

Go to the vendor site and download the drivers for your OS, save them to a disk (just so you have them) go through the add new hardware wizard and when it comes to the drivers say "have disk" if the are on a floppy point to the A drive if they are on your local FS then point to the location. You can also go to www.driverguide.com, they have a pretty extensive list.

OK I got the drivers loaded now none of the programs will run right
im gonna go throw this thing out the window.....
