So. Cal
i am trying to create a database of all the drinks I am going to make out of a bartending book that i got. I would like to rank the drink in taste, and then list the ingredients, so that if someone prefers an alcohol or i only have a certain one I can quickly sort the column for that alcohol or sort my top drinks (5 being the best).

How would I sort through the columns? I was hitting the az up and az down button, but that only sorts a single column and it doesnt move the row at all, just the column, thus it will move the numbers to different drinks. Is there a way to lock the rows so that when i select a column to adjust it the row stays together?

Thanks for any help, or if you do know about excel and don't understand what im talking about, let me know because i am probably not describing my issue very well.

I would have to do some searching on openoffice since that appears what your using, but I am familiar with office 03 and office 07 and I know they can do it, sure open office can to.

IN office it is under Data and then sort, then you can choose up to the 3 columns to sort by

Before you sort, click the gray box in the upper left corner. This should highlight the entire spreadsheet. Then when you sort by columns, the rows will shift accordingly and stay together.
