i have a problem...it is that i seem to like too many games...how does one decipher b/w a good and bad lay? how does one lessen the amount of games they like? for example i initially liked only 3 games tonight....
Dal -9.5
Bos -5
Mil -5.5
but i ended up to take almost the WHOLE FREAKIN' CARD....and ended up losing just juice....instead of going 3-0
i find good things about every game...i know this problem is hard to answer but if someone could tell me their method of "toning" the amount of games played down it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Excellent question, not an easy answer. I'm not the one to answer this though, since I find myself in your boat too often myself. I'm sure you'll get some good responses though. Most would say the first thing to do is find a reason NOT to bet the game. Starting from that perspective normally reduces it down quickly. Then concentrate on what's left....

Here is an idea. I was in a contest for a year once. You have play 15 games only every week. It cuts down your games without really trying to. After about 3 weeks of going 11-4, 12-3, or better you see some good results. To this day I do the same thing. That taught me to be selective. Tomorrow is another day. The name of the game is pick up $$$$$. Not how many games you play. Try it for acouple of weeks. It teaches you patience.

What worked for me was when I changed my perspective of betting. Instead of trying to play winners (you can find a reason for every team to win), try not to play any losers. You'll be surprised how few games you come up with.

thanks for the responses....
gsp-i understand your method of thinking but won't that lead to never betting? cause just like you can always find reasons for teams to win you can also always find reasons teams would lose...just a thought but if that method works, cool....
badangel-sounds good partna, but how do you go about selecting 15 games? do you look at the whole schedule for the week? is there a system like only play 2 games a night?

well thanks for your responses

Running - Here is what I do in the NBA. You watch the games a week. Then you determine four of the best teams and four of the worst teams by record etc.

These are the only teams to bet on. Information is power. You got to know them inside and out. Know the injuries and all of it. Then particulary when one of your four best plays one of your four worst....This is when you strike....You should have a good feel for the game. Dont bet other games , be patient... ....get the money ...

This is gonna sound goofy, but i was in the exact same boat, and there is a few things that have helped.
First, you have those three games that you really like, play those games.

Then you say you want to play the rest of the card. Well, there are sites that can help, and now the new software that Jack has here is great. You can play all those games with "fake money" and see how it turns out. I find for me at least it takes away some of the itch of wanting to play every game. If after while you find maybe you should play a few more games, great. And, if like last night, you find that sticking to your 3 games is best, then you will come out ahead.

I know this porb isn't the best solution, but it works for me. Now i can play a few games for real, and still play the whole board just to see.

Hope that help ya some. Sorry for the long post.

running-wild, some days I take it down to where I only have one play and I'm not even thrilled with it. But it's the best I have on that day. I cap every NBA game everyday but instead of playing 3 and hoping I hit 2, I play just 1. The best I have on that day. Other days, I might have 4-5 that meet all my criteria and I can play them with confidence. Most of the time I will only find 2 or 3. When I get things going I can kill the NBA. I also par all my plays for either 1/2 or 1 unit. In the past 6 days I have done very well. 6-0, 2-0, 2-0, 0-1, 4-0, 1-1. I also don't vary my straight bets usually just 1 unit each. Good luck
