First, I totally agree a 3-ball tiebreaker based on birdies and/or eagles is annoying if not stupid.
Second, I can't find any tiebreaker rules on thegreek web site. Was it at the bottom of the page when the 3-ball lines were posted?
Third, you posted this in the Senior PGA thread yesterday:
# 3-way matchups, also known as 3-balls will be decided by the lowest score at the end of the round (18 holes). If a player starts the round and withdraws he is considered a loser but if a player withdraws before the start of the round then all group bets will be cancelled. In the event of starting groups being rearranged, bets will be settled on the original groups. Tie Breakers: 1st tie Breaker: Player with the most Birdies. 2nd tie Breaker: Player with the most Eagles. If two golfers are still tied the bet will be settled as follows, half of the stake will be considered a loser and half will be paid at the stated price. If all 3 players are still tied, then two thirds of the stake will be considered a loss and one third will be paid at the stated price.
If that rule is from thegreek, then you won on the second tiebreaker. Or is it from some other site?
Fourth, there might be a tie, but it's not a push for all three outcomes, unless there is something explicitly posted to the contrary. Irwin was a loser, while Nakajima and Floyd were in a "dead heat", and the payoff among the "dead heat" winners (when losers lose) has to be 1/2 a winning bet and 1/2 a losing bet. Assuming a $100 bet at +230 (price quoted in the original thread), your
net profit on the Nakajima wager should be (1/2)($100 stake) + ($230 winnings)(1/2) - (1/2)($100 stake) = $115.
