" Here comes the sun..and I say.. its all right little darling" Friday hoops in Tex

" Here comes the sun,and I say its all right darling, its been a long cold lonely winter..its feels like years it's been here, sun, sun, sun here it comes ..." George Harrison wrote that many moons ago. Some of you will know the band he was in and if you don't know ,shame on you but go to Wikepedia and look it up.. A fact I never knew was the band he was in had 2 big time song writers.. This was Harrisons biggest hit.
Texas and Austin has been hit with the biggest snow, ice sleet, storm in 45 years. over 40% of the city had no power and 50% no water, including my son and his family. I am 12 miles from him and couldn't get to him because of the 6 inches of snow on the ground. Because they have no slow plows or salt or sand the 6 inches froze over in the night. Now you have frozen snow on all the roads. When I asked people how do you remove the snow which is now snow and ice the answer was ' wait for the sun" and warm weather. So this morning I got in my 4 wheel drive Subaro to go to my daughters house and pick up a few coffee pods for my wife's Gerugigs coffee machine ... My daughter has a case of them from Cosco.. that could last another 5 storms. She also gave me a case of water since I still have no water.. My wife just handed me a cup of coffee and it was bitter. I asked her its not the same blend you had before. She told me our daughter gets a different flavor blend.. I asked my wife what mountain range did it come from. She yelled back be thankful your daughter gave us her coffee. So after my entire life of drinking a cup of coffee from my local deli, then retiring in Texas and going a to Starbucks and then snowbound and drinking my wife's Guerig 100% columbian the past 5 days and liking it. I have made progress .. and just maybe on Saturday or Sunday when the snow has all melted and my wife say's " honey would you like a cup of coffee I might say yes " and skip my $4.07 cafe latte .. But this morning it took a turn for the worse.. the coffee was bad.. I realize it must of come from a different mountain range in Columbia .. Maybe not,, Maybe its from Brazil or Chile . anyway think this weekend I might have to go back to Starbucks .. these guys had a chance ..although the window was small think they blew it.
Ohio St at the end pulled away. 1st half scared me but Washington and Liddell are tough. Think they hit 9 of 11 Ft's to pull away..
Well today could be the last day of being snowbound .. because guess what' " her comes the sun"
Back later with a few games.

So bama +2.5 over Appa St ***
Jags have more transfers coming in then any other D-1 team . Well some are home runs, some strike out and every once in awhile you get a grandslam. Flowers the W Mich transfer could be the POY of the Sun.. he is leading scorer,re bounder,assist,.. and he is a gd at 6'1.. these guys split earlier on but this kid avg 16 pts at W Mich Jags like ball control and shoot the 3's . Appa defense will have a tough time I think..

Geo St -9 over Troy **
Panthers could win this in double digits Troy is skidding the wrong way..

Boise St -1.5 over Utah St **
Best player on the court and home tonight. Alston of the Broncos . Probably the best small fd in the country.Shaver and Kigab the transfers can score also.. these are the 2 of 3 best Mountain West teams going head to head. Aggies have a lot of talent but in the end you have to go with Alston . I see him getting fouled in a 1 or 2 pt game. Think he hits 80% from the FT line. Don't think the Aggies can stop him maybe slow him down somewhat

St Peter -8 Marist *
under 121.5 **
Hate giving Peter that many points but Foxes who got off for the season/ to a great start then lost Cubbage their only true scorer Foxes who have been out due to C=19 problems lost to Siena and shot 3-16 from the 3.. Foxes coach Dunn was former Peters coach. when he was at Peter his teams played outstanding defense and were so fundamentally sound. With not much in his cupboard at Marist and all the days off its hard for him to get across his game. Then he loses Cubbage . Peter gets Hollaway as the coach and is doing a great job. They are scoring more just defeated Fairfield 66-49..Ndefo had 20 in that game. Think this is a low scoring game and it could go under the 121.5 Small lean on Peter since they are at home and Foxes aren't sharp on offense.

Old school the 2 places I make my plays don't have girls basketball so I can't wager on them I have watched texas girls a few times and was interested in the Baylor Texas game but it got postponed right. I was at last years game but my buddy who has season tickets who is a retired B-52 Air Force pilot gave up his woman's front row seats because during the national anthem the Texas girls don't put there hands over there hearts.. We are one row behind the bench I wanted to tell the Texas girls please put your hands over your hearts or I am never going to be so close to the floor.. they hated the BU coach and just killed her the whole game.. and I;m sitting next to someone saying " I'm giving up my season tickets ",, There was apart of me saying he might be just saying this.. but he did give up his tickets he had for 10 years.

Ahhh, another fun Box story

Ahhh, another fun Box story

Ok, always love your prose. On that first $700 you win in the tourney; consider ordering up a Phillips/Saeco Incanto super automatic coffee machine or some derivative thereof. You will never go back, I promise you. It will turn the most pedestrian Costco coffee bean into that $4 Starbucks drink in a heartbeat. Footprint on the counter should be no bigger than what you have now.
You are retired, dude, live a little-😁

jamulboy...thanks but down deep I don't think its the coffee, Its me when I was working meeting everyone and socializing...with all my buddies and we were from different points of views. I was the liberal teacher stealing everyone money because I had good hours and the summer off. But I lost that when I became an administrator. I would buy my NY Post and Daily News ,play lotto and just BS... once I got here in Austin I met another group of guys at Starbucks and did the same ... only bought the Dallas Morning News .. All those newspapers have great sports sections. and play lotto at a valero ..
So down deep its really not the coffee or blend or Mountain range, its getting away. lol but I do admit the coffee was pretty good. I think it was hard on me not greeting a 1,000 kids every morning at the front door. I don't think I ever had a cup of coffee in school in 39 years.. it is my escape in my own little world.. kinda like here at MJ's . I get to say things and tell stories and no matter how boring they are no one tells me in my face how bad they are. and I'm sure many really feel that way but are kind .... the snow is melting today but we still have no water but have power .. and heat,
It was true what they said here about melting snow, and George Harrison was right "Here comes the sun" I wonder if he had songs or lyrics about water coming back .

I love that song. I've heard it recently on a video I saw as, like I said before, went very far down the rabbit hole over the last 10-12 months. It's a video all about JFK JR and is titled "Here Comes The Son"

I'm pretty sure JFK JR is alive as well as a few others but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Also, as for the name of the group....I can remember being really young back in the 80's and seeing reruns of The Flintstones. On one episode a bunch of teenagers were going crazy for "Bug Music"...I think I knew about bug music before I even knew what band Harrison was in. To take it a step further, I knew of George Harrison as a guy who sang "I've Got My Mind Set On You" where he's in that rocking chair in that room for the entire video...I knew of that George Harrison before I knew of 1960's George Harrison lol.

We get a lot of student workers where I work....I was one way back when (90's)...and that sort of reminds me of things they say. The one that comes to mind right now...."Paula Abdul used to be a singer?" Needless to say I was floored lol. It's all about perspective I guess. I knew of George Michael before I knew he was in WHAM. I knew Belinda Carlisle before I knew she was in the Go-Go's. Michael Jackson before I knew about The Jackson 5. Michael McDonald before I knew he was w The Doobie Brothers. The list goes on and on. My love for music and when I first really started listening would be late 1985/early 1986. '86 was a crazy year for me....bad in a lot of ways...but I had a lot of great music that got me through it. I love a lot of music but my favorite is around 1985-1990 mid to late 80's.
