I love wagering on the majors. To me, it?s more enjoyable to watch PGA majors than the World Series or the NBA finals. But sports are like music or beer: everybody has their favorite stuff and everything else is piss water. Many people: ?How can you watch golf all day! It?s like watching paint dry?? Well put some cash on a semi longshot and if he?s putting for a birdie on 16, on Sunday, down one shot, it?s like watching the finish of a horse race, only in slow motion.
Lately I find myself betting my favorite players and fading the guys I don?t like. Like wrestling, or politics, there are clearly good guys and bad guys in golf.
GOOD GUYS:
Schauffele -- Smiles a lot, seems disciplined, FedEx rank #4, from California. He?s on his way up the ladder.
Rose ? I just like him. So good out of the sand for up and down. Olympic Champion, very stoic and mechanical. Solid player in matchup betting, especially on Sunday rounds. Hasn?t played since the US Open I believe, so you got to think he?s focused on the Open this week and hitting many practice golf balls each day.
Woods and Mickelson ? Well I love these guys as they have nurtured my love for the game and my love for betting the game. I fade them as much as I back them. I like Phil because he?s lefty like me, and a gambler and very philanthropic (heh). Google Conrad Dobler. I just read Phil dropped 15 pounds for the Open by fasting for six days! This may backfire as food gives you strength last I checked. Tiger, well here?s a dude who marries a Norwegian swimsuit model and still wants to get high and tap pancake waitresses on the side. Stout stuff; I guess I forgive him since he was reformed at that clinic for sex maniacs.
Cantlay ? Recently started cheering for this American when I read his back story (no pun intended). A guy who is fighting through adversity as best he can and making good golf shots lately. Only two wins on tour but ranked #6 FedEx.
Molinari and Koepka ? I group these two together because they are the most robotic players to me. They are automatic and never look nervous about anything. Bogies are rare on their scorecards. Obviously, Koepka?s under value these days due to huge success, especially in majors. (Hideki Matsuyama almost makes this a threesome, yet his 2018 wrist injury makes me hesitant to back him like I used to.)
Fleetwood ? ?Fairway Jesus? is a very likable cat. Always smiling, even when he?s fucking up (which may not be so good). I thought 2019 might be his breakout season, but he has struggled and could really use a Top 5 finish this week. Hard to put money on him though because his game is flaky lately.
BAD GUYS:
DeChambeau ? at first I liked him because of the gimmicky science stuff. Then I realized he?s bratty, throws clubs, always looks like a sour puss, probably from a super rich family.
Reed ? What kind of man doesn?t talk to his parents or sister? What kind of man steals shit from his teammates?
Garcia ? Throws clubs and can never forgive him for spitting in the cup. He was a great fade last season after he married that chick from Texas and had a baby. I knew he wasn?t practicing much golf.
Spieth and Thomas ? Sorry but these two seem like country club brats to me. Spieth blaming shit on everything but himself, Thomas asking a fan to be removed because he cheered against him (grow a sack man!).
Kuchar ? Used to like him but that was pretty cheap when he short changed his caddie after a win! His smile always makes me think of Barney Fife or a cartoon dog, can?t decide which.
There are some good writers and cappers in the golf forum. Let?s hear who you guys like and dislike on the tour these days. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR WAGERS!!!
