OK- my record up to date including play of the day is 5-5, but it could be better. I am just curious, Im new to this who "units" thing. Is there anyone out there who can explain how I would calculate my units....

Here are my picks for today..... Time to go 4-0

Carolina, -.5, -120
Dallas, -.5, -120
PHX, ML +175
Kings, -.5, +110

Thanks to those nice people for their picks and help, and as always, The Whale will always live on in a special place in every hockey fan's heart (I hope.)

I'm pretty new to this betting stuff too.

A unit is what you would bet per game. If you bet $100 per game, then 1 unit = $100. So if you bet $250 on a game then you would be risking 2.5 units in that particular game.

If I'm wrong - someone clear it up for both of us.

fyi, units is important because a win/loss record doesn't accurately reflect the most important result and that's money won/lost.

Someone could be picking 70% winners but still have a negative units won if they were picking moneyline favourites of -250 or more on a regular basis. Vice versa, someone like Nick Douglas who likes dogs only needs to pick like probably 49% to win money cuz he plays underdogs at plus money.
