I just re-qualified for Diamond next year.

Tri-fecta.

Made the qual on points, stays, AND nights.

and United 1K will be hit in about 4 more weeks.

Life will be good in the travel lane next year!

Very nice. I have over 100 nights and 89 stays this year with an estimated 75 stays remaining this year. Just got back from a five state tour.

Moving my double points promo to miles which will be Southwest at 1 credit per stay. (I usually only stay 1 night per hotel and move on to the next territory.)

Averaging 13 stays per trip, I'll have a few free flights by end of promotion.

Congrats again:toast:

Why don't businesses, like the one you work for, take advantage of these perks themselves? It seems like they are wasting money.

Great for you though. :toast:

I think it's more for morale of the employee. Without these perks, you can be certain a lot of people wouldn't enjoy the travel or the job, myself included.

Right now, I have enough points and miles for Katie and I to go anywhere we wish for vacation. It's almost like a bonus.

I had never been denied a request until this week when Hilton's Diamond Force denied my 4 room request in Nashville Nov. 6th. They could only guarantee 1 room and the others at a $399 rate. Sorry Jack.

We won't be staying there obviously...

Find 3 more diamond's to all use their own Diamond Force and book the room under other names in your party.

Most businesses can't keep the points/miles because they are awarded to the person that has their butt in the seat on the plane. They can't create a master account and have 20 people dumping points into it.

Also - most employees have to buy the tickets themselves and pay the bill. THEN they get reimbursed from the corporate expense account.
So the points are employees, who purchased it, not the company who reimbursed the expense.

Have you been watching the Flyertalk post on this? Huge, epic thread going on how to get the most bang for your buck with SWA credits using either double points or double miles and how you have your settings. I'm not a SWA guy, but from what I saw.. they had all kinds of combos going that were getting down into the hundredths of points decimal values as to which way you got hte most.

Gents,

Hilton blows pole compared to Starwood. No difference between Hilton Gold and Diamond so why invest your time to strive for it? I am a former Hilton zealot for many years. Jumped ship to Starwood last year and will never look back - except to burn my 350K points sometime this year. Starwood does have limited properties but I use hotels.com for those out of band stays (10 stays = free night).

Hilton's Diamond Force is a very very valuable benefit. I'd trade every single other benefit/perk they offer for just that one alone.

starwood vs hilton.. heard it all before many times over. i'm not particulary fond of the room layouts at most starwood properties. My preference is for the Embassy Suites style room layout.
Both are competitive programs - with the promotions Hilton has been running this year I have been very impressed with them.

Plus, Starwood doesn't have the Waldorf collection - or, in my opinion, anything even close to it.

to each their own though. pick the program that benefits you the most and roll with it.
