Wednesday thoughts...

1. Florida + 153 vs. Boston

Boston goes with Wakefield, who is 4-0 with 2.12 ERA. Clement goes for Florida, 2-5 with 5.25 ERA. So why do I like FLA, you ask? Florida has the best interleague record on NL teams. Wakefield is 2-2 with 5.62 ERA vs. the Marlins. Back with more later, time permitting...

2. St. Louis over K.C. [line in question]

Morris vs. Suppan, who gave up 5 runs and 9 hits in 6 &2/3 innings vs. White Sox. He has a 7.5 ERA against the Cards in one start. Pujols on a tear for STL....maybe more later

I took the Marlins yesterday. I had an oppertunity to watch them last night at the local milkshake establishment up the corner.
The Marlins looked very tired. They left 9 men on base, 5 of them is scoring position. It seemed every time they had something going they fell into a funk. I watch a runner on first trot to second on a single to right field. He didn't even make it look like he wanted to go to third to even try to draw a throw. This was when they were down
4-0. They just looked lazy. I still think they have a good young team ( except for the guy in right field, Maybre), but I am going to lay off of them tonight. Just thought I would let you know what I saw. Good Luck.

TITO: Thanks for the info. As I have not yet bet, I may reconsider FLA. Reminds me of a game I saw a few years ago in Atlanta playing the Phillies. Phillies looked tired and terrible and lost the game. This was a 100 degree in July in the hot sun. The Phillies went on a tear after that and won the division and then the Series. Go figure.

ADDED:

3. San Diego [+107] over OAK

Question is whether Klesko and Nevin, the top hitters for SD will break their slump, going 0-7 last night, and 5/29 the last 4 games. They go against Zito [3-6//5.45] who has lost a bunch in a row, and has given up 14 runs, 19 hits in the last 17 & 1/3 innings. Another trend is that OAK is 1-5 when they reach the .500 mark.
Small doggie...

4. San Diego/OAK Over 8 [-120]

Basing this play mostly on Zito recent past, and believing Klesko/Nevin will break out of the slump. The two Pitchers ERAs equal OVER 10. So what will happen - no doubt a no hitter. Yeah, right....

Interesting not...Ceasar Crespar, 2B for San Diego, has struck out in every game in which he has appeared for at least one at bat...

5. Tampa Bats vs. Fillies !!! [+130]

Yes, that is right - I am actually picking the worst team in the league.

Have I lost my head? Probably. But I like certain things in this game. Rekar is 0-7 with a 5.33 ERA. But he is tough at home, with a 3.00 era in his last 3 starts. Jason Tyner is starting in center; the bats have vcome alive in the last few games; and TB have actually won 4 of 6, while the Fillies have lost 4 of 6. SO Shoot Me...
